Federal law says federal and state governments can't seize Americans' stimulus payments to satisfy tax debts—but the same does not apply to private debt collection. That's why attorneys general such as New York's Letitia James are trying to get the Treasury Department to issue regulations saying debt collectors can't seize the payments either. Fortune

Aren't the "debt collectors" out of work too...don't they deserve stimulus payments too ???



If not, maybe they deserve to be allowed to seize the payments so that they can pay their bills too ???

So no need to pay rent, car payment or any debts? Does this mean the stimulus money is meant to be used only for snacks, booze and hookers?

Wouldn't these debt collectors need to have access to bank accounts in order to seize these stimulus payments? If debtors are at a point that creditors have access to bank accounts then all bets are off. Why wouldn't you change accounts if the fingers are in the cookie jar?
