I think one of the things that has Biden at a disadvantage is that there are Republicans who are willing to let the US default. That's almost like fighting an adversary who is not afraid to die because he fully expects to be rewarded in the hereafter. Opponents who are enthusiastically willing to die are very dangerous and unpredictable.
Unlike responsible adults, Republicans are not afraid to play chicken with the country and its future.

My political circle is large because I use to volunteer for democrats.Group texts that went out last night between my volunteer group are furious over this debt deal,especially about unexpectdly having to start student loan repayments .Most of them already said they wont be voting for or volunteering for Biden in 2024 before the debt limit surrender though.
