The first few months Covid was essentially a national issue because the medical community hadn't established an approach to treat it yet and how to contain it. Most of the initial cases were in NE states and provinces with large cities.
Several states like Florida had that significant early advantage but squandered it by ignoring the lessons learned in those states. This year, it's inexcusable to have worse hospitalization and death numbers then last year. This is not a case of rotation or seasonality; it's the result of too much stupidity in the state government and the community. The numbers are brutal this is not a case of some small increase relative to other states.
Let me refine one thought above -- "This year, it's inexcusable to have worse hospitalization and death numbers then last year" due to your state not putting in place proper public health measures and vaccination initiatives in face of a more highly contagious Delta variant.
There will be some additional states in the U.S. having higher hospitalization and deaths in face of the Delta variant in the upcoming three months -- some will be smaller blue states that had low hospitalizations and deaths in earlier waves due to their proper public health practices in the earlier pre-vaccine days of the pandemic. Others will be red states in that simply are not pushing proper public health measures and vaccines in face of the highly contagious Delta variant -- Florida is simply the first red state to break this barrier.
We’ll see. There’s a lot to learn as we go forward. The variables include state vaccination rates, school mask and distance policy, state government instituting mitigation efforts.
Remember Florida was like fuck it, we have Covid and aren’t going to do anything about it. Not all states are going to sit on their hands if vaccines don’t hold.

The MU is from Columbia, most likely would come through Florida
And the DeSantis administration in Florida refuses to report on variants. We must rely on reports from labs that handle Covid testing to get any information on the variants present in Florida. Explain to us why DeSantis hides the reports on variants in the middle of a public health crisis.
We should note that Florida is only reporting Covid Deaths to the Feds on Mondays and Thursdays as data dumps --- and the numbers Florida is providing appear to be very suspect.
