DDE, is it good enough?

I have just downloaded the donationware Hyperserver Lite to update the IB datafeed into Tradestation from http://www.hypertrader.it/htools.shtml . I see that the program uses DDE to get data from IB. Is DDE relaible enough for trading? I had problems getting more than 20 sysmbols to update in www.neoticker.com . www.sierrachart.com uses the IB api and was reliable but I would like to use Tradestation. Does anybody use DDE to trade? How does metaserver for IB compare? does it use DDE as well? thanks for any help and your opinions.
 
I have used DDE links to Excel worksheets for quite a while. I have used three or four different data suppliers, and have never had any real problems related to the DDE. There may very well be better ways to go, but it has worked fine for me (I am not a real computer guy).
