Daytrading breakouts in the ES

db,

I sometimes trade your breakout method in the Simplicity thread. But it seems that whenever I don't take a trade, it works, but when I do, it turns out to be a false breakout. I think your method also has a lot of validity. Do you have any other tips/updates on how to use this method effectively?

thanks,
lux

The Stock Traders Almanac says in 20 yrs 1981-2001
this day has been up 71% of time.

Whether that has much/any predictive value, who knows?

You find Frank Taucher useful?

Yes, but I won't be posting it until the issue of moderation is resolved. I don't have time for the Walters of the world.

This almanac is by Yale Hirsch.

I would not trade based on it,
but I would refuse to take a trade based on it.

For today, I'm long or I'm gone

Anyone took this one in the morning?

I did, stopped out -1.5 pts

No. You may want to re-consider the aspect ratio on your chart window. I've noticed that some of you have your windows so scrunched-up that practically any trend at all looks like a strong one. Therefore you end up taking trades that are hardly trending at all. Having a misleading aspect ratio also lengthens the candles/bars so that nearly every candle looks like an expansion bar that's really going somewhere when it's really going pretty much nowhere.
