Great results: 100% of ETers make money, according to the poll. :) Never underestimate the power of asking the right questions. :D

Surely if they were lying they would all pick the 10k+ category??

The question is:

"How much do you make?"

not:

How much do you lose?/How much do you make or loose?

And the options are all profits, not losses.

So 100% of the profitable traders that have voted are profitable, what`s the big mystery?

Im not a detective trying to solve a mystery, my smart ass friend.

Im trying to figure out, from all profitable daytraders, who makes more, mechanical traders, or discretionary traders.

The results so far lean towards the former.

If you are NOT net profitable then you shouldn't be voting in this poll as there is no category set for you.

that post was meant for the posters who think the results in the poll show that all members of ET make a profit, not just the profitable ones who have voted in the poll.

Poll with wrong assumptions.

1) Looks like someone is looking for a weekly, monthly salary kinda thing.
2) Assumes that the only thing that traders make is profits. Missing out entirely on something called "loss", which alas, is not very uncommon:confused:

Give the 95 % crowd some place in your poll. Maybe 99 % since you say intraday

Its really worthless because so few people can control themselves in the big anonymous internet and you wont get real answers

Now thats funny.. yup 100% of people on internet forums make money.

So according to the poll results so far.

13% of all profitable discretionary traders make over $10K+ per week.

39% of all profitable mechanical traders make over $10K+ per week.

A 3-fold difference. Interesting.

Thanks everybody for voting.

Perhaps my next poll would be to test if what I suspect is true; that there is a strong positive correlation between trade frequency and profitability for the mechanical traders.

sample size is too small to say there is a significant difference between discretionary & mechanical

Ok, so it was just a bit of fun then.

Dipper, glad you found you funny bro.

Nothing personal bro its just that these internet forums are filled with people who stretch the truth> Thats not to say there are not a really good bunch of people here. I just found it a bit funny trying to draw conclusions from a survey like that.

The sad fact of the matter is the internet has empowered people who prior to these kinds of forums had no outlet for their frustrations in life. Now they can come to places and demand the respect they dont get anywhere and project themselves as they wish they were without any serious repercussions.
