Daytraders: how many stocks do you monitor at a time?

'Cause nothing fucking works at Swifttrade (my prop firm). There are no alert systems whatsoever. They want everyone to be scalping 10,000-50,000 shares at a time for two cents on stocks like GE, PFE, AMD, MOT, TWX, et al.

I tried using their so-called conditional order system a week ago (where an order is entered if a certain price is reached), and the system kept entering the orders prematurely, resulting in some fairly hair-raising trades.

About 800, as everything is automated

Here are some events being monitored: morning gap, price range break out, volume surge, etc.

There are websites that will send you stocks that fit your profile in real time.

Not yet. I'm going to use their money to learn, then jump ship to a better place. There's no long-term future here.

I only trade one thing at a time, so that is all i monitor other than related stuff like market internals the indices, etc. I am currently trading only the Russell 2000 futures. As with Grail, i trade off pivot points, or at least i try too. Today was a daytraders dream come true.
