Why even waste your time compiling such a study or demographic? Is it for the purpose of discouraging others to try their hand at day trading?

Every academic white paper I've come across over the years on the topic was just wrong. Their sources of information (exchanges and regulators and industry groups) were naive and misinformed and biased to begin with.

Look at how corrupt this whole HFT issue has been for many years.

Thanks for your response. I'd like to take a look at the academic white papers, of which you speak.

Concerning your comments about the information being "just wrong", any study has to be looked at through the filter of the where the information came from, and who conducted it.

But I would like to see the information. Thanks.

Dunno. Just on CNBC few minutes ago, the reporter was speaking to a trader on the floor and the guy was like it's brutal nobody's making money this year.

Using Google, maybe you could find an academic paper that is accurate or passes the sensibility and smell test regarding day trader demographics and post the link here.

Do you not actually have any studies or links to them? Your post sounded like you do; "Every academic white paper I've come across over the years on the topic.....".

People on ET have a habit of claiming a lot of things that they later on cannot back. So, learn to take everything you read here with a large grain of salt.
