Daily Kos Blogger: "Obamacare will double my monthly premium"

LOL obama zombies starting to learn what obamacare will do to them.

My wife and I just got our updates from Kaiser telling us what our 2014 rates will be. Her monthly has been $168 this year, mine $150. We have a high deductible. We are generally healthy people who don't go to the doctor often. I barely ever go. The insurance is in case of a major catastrophe.

Well, now, because of Obamacare, my wife's rate is gong to $302 per month and mine is jumping to $284.

I am canceling insurance for us and I am not paying any fucking penalty. What the hell kind of reform is this?

Oh, ok, if we qualify, we can get some government assistance. Great. So now I have to jump through another hoop to just chisel some of this off. And we don't qualify, anyway, so what's the point?

I never felt too good about how this was passed and what it entailed, but I figured if it saved Americans money, I could go along with it.

I don't know what to think now. This appears, in my experience, to not be a reform for the people.

What am I missing?

I realize I will probably get screamed at for posting this, but I can't imagine I am the only Californian who just received a rate increase from Kaiser based on these new laws.

My wife and I have that couple beat. We pay $364/month now until Feb. 2014. Then, according to Kaiser, we will be asked to pay $1000/month, an increase of 175%. We both work out 6 days/week. She is an organic gardener so we eat super healthy. Over the last 3 years I've only seen my doctor for an annual physical except for one minor urgent care visit. Unfortunately, unlike the possibility of subsidies above, we won't get any $$. Our one option is to get divorced legally so we can BOTH get up to the $46K max income to claim a subsidy. As a married couple we would get $62K max until we lose any subsidy and not $92K as 2 unmarried people would.

You do realize that anyone can start a blog on DailyKos?

From the same blogger couple of years ago

"It is sad to watch everyone jump for joy over the Presiden't's eventual realization that gay couples should have the same rights as everyone else.

He didn't take this stance until now. Meanwhile the dark lord, the arch criminal Dick Cheney did 4 years ago.

Politics in this country is nothing more than team fandom.

Jump for joy, but don't make this into something it is not. The President is a political opportunist and you have been played. Yeah yeah yeah he's got my vote.

But don't lie to yourself. Obama is four years behind Cheney on this issue. Explain that."

WHAT?

Guy is thoroughly anti-Obama and is making a anti-Obamacare blog post?

GEEBUZ!!!

They are not confirming income.

The feds will also allow people to gain means-tested subsidized coverage on the exchanges without having to…test their means. “For income verification, for the first year of operations, we are providing Exchanges with temporarily expanded discretion to accept an attestation of projected annual household income without further verification.
