The problem is most countries aren’t even testing for cases or if they are, they’re not publicizing the results. It has a 2-3% fatality rate from the known numbers while the flu has .1%. It was clear from the President’s press conference that they want to downplay the issue so the public does not panic. There’s a lot going on behind the scenes here.

Okay, but these graphs are based on the numbers worldwide, I'm talking about Italy.

This is also true, and China has payed of WHO

Interestingly, the number of daily recovered patients has surpassed the number of new infections so the 'stock' of people ill has started to drop (also because some patients are dying)

If China is making up these numbers to "calm people down" why they allowed that huge spike on feb 12? Truth is, panic is good for them, it helps control the disease. It helps people to comply with quarantines as well

What you're saying could be true, but to add on to that, constant panic isn't helping either, they had their panic, now they need to calm people down

The key question is whether China is lying, because if they are not and they controlled things there, then other countries can do the same. I mean, its really hard for things to get worse in Italy or South Korean than they did in Wuhan

And it's probably a question we won't get answers for... I hope it gets contained here, but it will need some time I think
