Trump was supposed to repeal all these Obama executive orders. Why is this even a question?
I hope, at least. he trades DACA for 3 big things. lower taxes for those making less than 300 grand, obamacare repeal, and permanent long term ban on immigration until they eliminate income taxes and our standard of living rises in real terms... significantly for a decade.
Simply put . . . McConnell , Ryan , and a host of other secret members are planning a mammoth coup.
It's going to be huuuugggge.
Trump vowed during his presidential campaign to end DACA, which he, like Ryan and other Republicans, has said is unconstitutional. If he followed through, current recipients would be unable to work legally and would be at risk of deportation. Although the Trump administration has said its focus is deporting criminals, it routinely detains other undocumented immigrants it encounters as well ― Dreamers among them.

In other words, Trump promised a lot of things he's ultimately unwilling to do (drain the swamp, rescind DACA, no foreign intervention, Import tariffs, etc...)
Because sometimes there is less than a perfect correlation between what Trump was "supposed to" do and what has or will happen so there is plenty of room for questions about what will really happen.
Trump also said that he absolutely will build a big beautiful wall from coast to coast. Guess what. That ain't gonna happen. Some portion of it in critical areas, yes. So the fact that Trump was supposed to do it does not remove all question about whether it will actually happen. You could add another ten things to that list. He will get some portion of it, but not what he was "supposed" to do.
One stroke of the pen is all it takes. One stroke of the pen and Trump can't even do that.
Donald Trump = Jeb Bush
Okay well, you are saying that ultimately he is unwilling to rescind DACA. Fine, keep that in mind because come tuesday there could be a pantload of people who will need your assurances on that.
I am not saying he wont rescind it (i think the correct verbiage is to say "will not renew it" because it expires if he just does nothing). But I think he will put some new conditions on it that will make some people plenty worried about where it is headed. He may for example extend it subject to funding on the wall. What does that mean then? Or he may extend it for a year but let it expire if a comprehensive immigration law is not passed by then. How would those to scenarios work for dreamers and libs? Technically he would be extending it. In reality, don't declare victory just yet.
