Da Bears!

Short and slow is no way to go through the NFL. And no Mav, the Bear's offensive line are not great pass blockers. That kid rarely has time. He rushes throws and those fumbles from center are systematic of him trying to pull away and get into the pocket ASAP.

The NFL though is not a ground it out league. Too much defensive talent. It's a big play league. Grossman has an arm and he's a winner. Those two attributes will demand the Bears give him further consideration. He's only started 30 or so games as a pro. Unfortunately he provides big play potential for defenses also.....

Z, I remember watching Brees who couldn't even keep Flutie off the field and thinking this guy will NEVER make it. On the other hand I thought Chuck Long was a future Hall of Famer. QB's are tough to handicap. I'm not a Grossman fan but I'd be cognizant that at least a dozen QB's in the league are worse than him. Hell I'd take Grossman over all 3 of Miami's quarterbacks......

the kids got a point....and its not an easy decision either way... but you have to think of it as the WHOLE team...the whole team is ready and they are ready now is he??...what do you do???

I would lean towards letting him go; just because many of the bad choices he has made have been pretty much 99.9% his fault. Not giving him more time to throw doesnt have to equate to bad desicions by him....

I think it's a tough decision, for sure. You'd hate to let him go and see him turn into a star somewhere else. He has a year left on his contract, so they don't have to do anything. Certainly if I'm them, I don't extend him now. Of course, if he has a breakout year, then you will have to pay up, but I'd take that chance.

Some guys have all the tools, but just lack a feel for the game. Patrick Ramsey was like that for the Redskins. I have the feeling David Carr has the same problem, and maybe Eli Manning too. Sometimes a guy, like Brees, will magically blossom, but usually they don't. You can waste a lot of time waiting for a guy to develop.

I say let there be an open competition for the job during summer camp and pre-season. May the best man win. Sign one of those free agents. And let Orton, Grossman, free agent and maybe Griese all compete for the starting job. Should there be any other way?

FWIW, Grossman does know how to win. He won a state championship and an SEC champopnship. Not many guys can say that.

i think you bring in a vet. to push him and to tutor hi,,,,i mean, who's been helping him the last few years? All the great QB's of the 80's had Steve Deberg with them LOL!!

Brett farve ( although more talent) was similar in his early years....he was traded for nothing after 3 years in Atlanta....

Football is funny...Rex's first 5 games he was the MVP of the league...but then the tape started pouring in and defenses adjusted....but Rex and his coaches didn't make any further adjustments....Here's another guy that better get ready...Tony Romo was awesome for about 5 or six games and then??? the roof fell in once tape was available....

Grossman needs one year where he is left alone and not under the microscope by every back seat QB writing about him or giving him advice. His performace this year is almost textbook for someone with talent that has not quite "gotten it" yet, and just needs experience.

Patience is the only course imo...

If the quarterback of a Superbowl team doesn't want to be under the microscope, he should quit football and go to work for some trading firm writing code...

This is about pressure, and how you handle it at that level...not necessarily physical skills.

If he is a bed wetter, that is his problem, and Chicago needs to dump him while they have a chance to win a Superbowl.

I am not blaming him entirely for the Superbowl loss, but come on, he threw 2 ints in the 2nd half that gave Indy all the momentum and his hands are so small he couldn't handle the ball well in the wet weather (you do know what they say about small hands...).

Sports has always shown the winners eventually rise even under the microscope, or they crap out, and Grossman doesn't have the head for it...many don't remember when Ditka was sending a QB to a shrink...I think it was Tomczak or someone like that, Grossman is just as messed up in the head...if not worse.

My goodness, just look at Grossman, see how he handles the questions from the press...remember the game they lost to Miami and he looked like he wanted to cry?

The pressure on him is going to be even more intense next year...and if Lovey sticks by him and he sucks, Lovey will soon take the hit.

This isn't like trading, the window in the NFL closes very quickly, and comebacks are rare for those who couldn't handle the pressure of a Superbowl.

Grossman is not John Elway for goodness sake...

I dont think anyone thinks he is a bad QB and I also agree that he will get better ( at least chances are) ...what the coach needs to decide is ..Is he ready to lead this team NOW to the ring?? the team is ready NOW..the window will close..do we remian the course ( we know how that could turn out ) ??? its not so much that he wont get better its more like will he be better before the window closes?? Marino was ready his team wasnt...look what happened after ...peace

Da Bears are expected to return to SuperBowl next year, right?

With that bed wetter as QB?

That would not give me a warm feeling if I were a Bears fan...
