Words matter and sometimes it is importnat to get the exact words correct. The Forbes report does not agree with what Governor Hogan said or with the earlier report of the same incident on MSNBC, which was in line with what Governor Hogan said later on national television. Specifically, Governor Hogan did not say he was " 'repeatedly denied' approval".
What he said was that he was required to get approval from the Secretary of Defense before Maryland, National Guard Troops could be deployed to D.C. Hogan said he tried to contact the DOD Secretary but was unable to. He said about an hour and a half later he was contacted on his cell phone by the Secretary of the Army who gave him the authorization he needed.
There is a difference between being 'repeatedly denied' and experiencing a delay in reaching the proper authority. In the former case, 'repeatedly denied' implies someone with authority withheld authorization. In the latter case, the implication is that there was either an unintentional or intentional delay or failure to get messaging through to the person with authority, or the person with authority did receive the message but delayed acting on the message.

US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Director Dr. Robert Redfield warned that the riots at the US Capitol on Wednesday was likely a coronavirus “surge event” and “is going to have public health consequences.”
In an interview with the McClatchy newspaper group on Friday, Redfield called the riots a “very, very sad day” and expressed concern that members of Congress and law enforcement could have been exposed by the pro-Trump mob, perpetuating the spread of coronavirus.
“I do think you have to anticipate that this is another surge event. You had largely unmasked individuals in a non-distanced fashion, who were all through the Capitol,” Redfield told McClatchy.
“Then these individuals all are going in cars and trains and planes going home all across the country right now. So I do think this is an event that will probably lead to a significant spreading event,” Redfield said.
On Thursday, the US reported more than 4,000 deaths from coronavirus for the first time. Redfield warned that the numbers are likely to increase.
“We’re going to continue to see mortality in the 2,500-5,000 a day range,” Redfield said. “This is going to continue to get worse through January, and probably parts of February before we really start to turn the corner.”
“We haven’t hit the peak of the current surge,” he added. “Clearly, the amount of mortality we’re seeing, as many of us are trying to stress, is more than we saw on Pearl Harbor or 9/11, over and over and over again. That’s the state of the pandemic unfortunately we’re at right now.”

What happened at the Capitol was widely condemned even with a vocal few claiming it was "necessary" or whatever bullshit. But Dems were having a lot of fun this summer during a COVID pandemic. To me they are as full of shit to start taking the high ground on some of these issues no matter how bad the attack on the Capitol was.

apples and oranges Ocho. If there was evidence the election was stolen as perceived by these people then we'd have their back. Plenty of evidence of blacks being shot w/o cause.
Yeah but does that mean the protestors should storm government buildings and burn down property and be goaded by politicians to keep on fighting. Isn't that going to send the wrong message to the bad elements who see that as a rallying cry to fight with weapons and fire? Won't violent BLM factions see that as support to take down the police and government buildings? I walked around D.C. in August and you have to see how many businesses were boarded up witin an 8 block radius. Was Versace responsible for violent police officers?
You are focused on the rationale from one being a fake claim and one being a valid one but the response in both cases is wrong and the politicians acting in that way is equally wrong.
Speaking up and protesting and standing with the victims is not the same as rallying calls to burn down cities and riot and cause violence which how some interpreted it.
Harris can say she never told people to burn down the Wendy's or storm the police station..

Many GOP members criticized heavily what happened to the Capitol and even saw Fox News calling it out harshly, lets ignore the Cruz and other fucktards. This summer, there was not the same unity in the violence sweeping the streets and the looting going on on live TV.
Trump rally would have been fine if it stayed on the Mall and the BLM protests would have been fine marching down the streets. Both had elements take it to an unacceptable level,,,
If there was true evidence it would have been handled properly in a court of law so no need to have anyone's backs for true claims. In many cop shootings the system was failing and protests were proper but why should businesses that had nothing to do with it get looted and raided and burned down...the Wendy's where that guy got shot had nothing to do with it.
Well, let's not make it sound like the dems were for private property destruction like those memes implied. The context was on support of protesters against the system's failings. Getting on a lawmaker's face is still protected speech even if uncomfortable. You create a system that will not address the issues of the masses (a court of law that keeps giving cops a pass), what's the expectation?
