He isn't going to resign. He took the Ralph Northam correspondence course on "How to Cling to Power".
Oh yeh. I get that. As I have posted several times, he is all about trying to run out the clock per the Ralph Northam model.
However, I am equally willing to critique my own thinking and take the other side of that argument to wit:
Virginia had a highly improbable situation where the governor was under pressure to resign, AND the Lt. Governor was being accused of rape. And the next in line also had some problem, another blackfacer or something. Thus, when the dems gamed it out, they concluded that removing Gov. Blackface could result in replacing him with a Republican governor, which of course was not their end goal.
The New York dems are not faced with that dilemma. They have a perfectly lefty, undamaged Lt. Governor, of the female persuasion who they can move right into the position as an upgrade to Cuomo. And with an election coming up in a couple years or less, they will have removed Andy and cleared the way for either the Lt. Gov or the far left, black, female AG to run - who is chomping at the bit. Also, I think that the NY Constitution requires the Lt.Governor to take over the minute a governor is formally being impeached. So that sort of gets him moving along early if that happens.
But, you said he will not resign. And I agree with that but with the caveat- refer to Nixon for more on this- that the line between resigning and being removed can become mighty thin. Cuomo will not go easily though. He - as with Nixon- would have to see first that he would not survive an impeachment per the whip count.
Laissez les bon temps rouler.
