In France, some people actually took the time to befriend and welcome quiet a lot of them, and find out how much their trip costed: on avergae 5000$/person, in countries where average salaries are less than 100$/month ( equivalent to 4 years of salary where unemployment is also rife).
If not for these people who want to first understand what was really going on, we would have never found out that :
