Cultivating Resilience?

What is your opinion on more of a small scale example that i struggle with: My mood is affected by my performance. I am more irritable on red days than green. I see this as having fragile emotions and a complete weakness. I don't freak out by any means but I allow my trading performance to affect my joy levels, big red days tend to make me big grumpy, big green days tend to make me big happy...I feel like I should remain more in the middle no matter what my gain/loss is.
I would say first of all, accept that this is normal at this stage of your journey. Not a weakness.

Secondly, I don’t think it will ever go away completely. The more consistent you get, the more red days irritate you. Because you go from “not knowing any better”, to “WTF, I know I am better than that.”

Solution : as you get more consistent (with lots of resilience), you will realize that you are able to recoup red days fairly easily(assuming you are trading “correctly”). So you go from “one step forward, two steps back” to “three steps forward, one step back” to “that was one of those freak days, oh well”

Good luck.

I can see your point and like what you said about only needing resilience after you messed up big time...so the solution is to not mess up big time lol. Which to me means proper discipline and preparation reduces ones need for super-power level resilience...If i understood you correctly.

I you have a written trading plan you can keep in mind the old saw,
“Can I trade 100% Inline With My Plan And Rules On The Next Trade I Take?”
