The Cuban American National Foundation, the nation's largest Cuban exile organization, has a predominantly Republican membership. Yet our fundamental interest is not partisan politics but helping to restore freedom to our brothers and sisters on the island.

Both presidential candidates have made clear that they want to help the Cuban people achieve freedom. But Barack Obama's forward-looking and proactive approach toward empowering the Cuban people is more in line with these proposals than John McCain's vow to continue the Bush administration's policy.

When people have family involved, they vote with their heart of
who looks to be less agressive militarily.
If Obama is a Marxist, do you think he would get the vote of anti marxist peoples?
 
That is a big failure. Cubans never vote democrat and CANF never went to the side of democrats.

Wow that is a big fuckup on Bush/Mccain/palin.

I live much of the year near Miami so I've seen the shift among many Cuban Republicans to the left. The Obama voters in the Cuban community seem to fall into a few groups.

1. If we fought a war in Iraq to eliminate Saddam why didn't we do the same in Cuba and kill the Castro brothers.

2. Maybe it would be better to be friends with the Castro's rather than get nowhere with embargoes that only hurt the Cuban people.

3. Mexicans immigrate here with impunity but it's harder to swim 90 miles than 90 yards-Cubans refugees are being discriminated.

4. Minorities in the Democrat camp get tons of free stuff thrown at them we're getting gypped.

The irony is that Cubans THEMSELVES-as was the American media-were fooled by Castro's Marxism. He built support as the anti-Batista not as a communist. He DENIED he was a communist until in power. Sound familiar?

5. Obama understands to lift embargo will help Cuban people to help themselves, without US aggression. They do not want a hand out or free things. Pride?
