Crypto Macro Trends for 2022

I would think Islamic Finance would work against bitcoin. Isn't there the concept of gharar. In a financial context, gharar refers to the ambiguity and deception that come from the sale of items whose existence is uncertain. Bitcoin is like a unicorn, people swear that they are out there, but no one has ever seen one.

I'm not very knowledgeable in the subject of Islam, but what I have heard from Muslims advocating for Bitcoin is that Bitcoin is not based on debt

Fiat currencies are debt-based

Bitcoin is a digital asset that is created by expending energy through bitcoin mining like gold but a digital version

The Islamic opinion of crypto is mixed.

  • Islamic scholars still disagree on whether cryptocurrency is halal
  • For those who don’t consider it as halal, its use for illegal activities, the absence of central authority, its speculative nature, and lack of wide acceptance as a medium of exchange are important factors.
  • Those who see crypto as halal believe there is Mal in crypto transactions, no interest (riba), and that its usage by some for illegal activities does not make it inherently haram.
  • The question of regulations, wide acceptance of cryptos as medium of exchange, and the increase or decrease in their volatility remain issues of concern to all and sundry.

Can't change the title of the thread to reflect the new year 2023, but anyway...

I was going to wait until after 1/1/2023, but I have already been making moves on crypto portfolio management so I know how I'm playing the crypto winter situation

I think the Fed continues the shitshow raising interest rates and when they stop, they will keep it there, "higher for longer", as they've been saying...

How long? maybe 2-5 years starting in 2023 (not counting 2022)

As a result, I think stock market continues its slow grind down, a nice orderly crash

What about Bitcoin and cryptos? I think Bitcoin price is at the bottom or near the lowest levels for this crypto winter

nfa

And with that belief:

  • I'm utilizing a defi platform heavily to deposit btc as collateral and borrow stablecoin against it. This is a form of leverage, but nothing crazy, 80% LTV is the defi platform limit, but I stay below 65%
  • I'm using the stablecoins to yield farm, mixture of old established beaten down (in price) crypto projects as well as newer, more promising but higher risk crypto projects
  • I'm swing trading crypto perpetual futures, mainly btc, which has been on a very tight trading range, quite predictable the past couple of weeks, hope it continues

My swing trading of the Bitcoin price range does not require a "bottom", but thanks for the link

I closed a long position a couple of hours ago for a profit, looking for re-entry
