Exactly. Most big cities are cesspools--especially after allowing rioting/looting during the Floyd riots and the subsequent "defund the cops" (but go light on thugs) policies. And if you carry and defend yourself in one of them, you'll probably get some corrupt, activist DA who thinks you're the bad guy. I used to occasionally enjoy visiting them (at least the nicer parts). Now I couldn't care less if I set foot in NYC, Chicago, L.A., D.C., Seattle, etc. again.
 
LOL all the crime in America happens in NYC. Nowhere else huh.

Maybe he should of went to downtown Sacramento this past Saturday night/Sunday morning instead.

Randomly, a friend of mine was held up at gunpoint for his watch last month in Chelsea. I love NYC, and been here since the mid-90's. Regardless of politics, I can tell you NYC has not gone back to the early 90's, but it is also not a place where you should be wearing an expensive watch out anymore. If you are getting robbed, just comply. It's just not worth it. You'll make it all back up in trading.

I just took a recent class on CHL and was a bit surprised at what I learned. There was a gang-initiation video shown where a gang-member attacked two in a car with a crowbar. He wailed on the car's windows, windshield, sides, headlights, etc basically all 360degs around the car. The car was limited in it's mobility in a parking lot.

In regards to the law, a car is considered a protective shield and that the only moment of (arguably) the use of deadly force was when the assailant broke the driver's side window and had access to the inside of the car. The car was totally fucked up with all the windows smashed but the teaching moment was that in regards to the use of deadly force all property is consumable.

Violent interactions are, at the core, unpredictable and therefore should be avoided at all cost.
