Crude oil for January delivery fell as much as 59 cents, or 0.6 percent, to $93.80 a barrel in after-hours electronic trading on the New York Mercantile Exchange, Mennis said. Earlier trades reported by Nymex of as low as $87.86 were caused by a technical fault, he said.
The start of electronic trading in today's session was delayed by a technical fault. Anu Ahluwalia, director of media affairs at Nymex, couldn't be reached to confirm the trades.
