Yeah, he did not turn up at the rememberance for dead American soldiers. Not interesting to him as his family were on the other side for that war.
My granduncle Timothy fought in WWI, He was born in 1885. I nearly blew a hole in the side of my grandmother's house with his .303 Mark VII when I was six. It was not quite as deactivated as is should have been that firing pin.
I thought I was going to be the last victim of WWI but apparently the shock on my face saved me, plus the adults probably thinking leaving a working (surprise) gun + boxes of ammo in the east bedroom was not a good idea..
In both wars America turned up late. I'm not excusing some French behaviour on the face of it but you can't claim great heroic nation chops for missing the most of WWI.
Still, those who died fighting should have had their commander in chief at least show up for the 100th anniversary. Shame on him.
