Critical Race Theory - Parents fight back

New York's curriculum is critical race theory by another name
Parents need education freedom to decide for themselves if curriculum is critical race theory
https://www.foxnews.com/opinion/new-york-curriculum-critical-race-theory-another-name

So we are going to let parents offer thier opinion on whether something offends them and dictate curriculum...

I remember in a friend's kid's school a parent lost his shit because the school taght who MLK was to 1st graders. Guy verbally assaulted the teacher after class the next day. Parent was escorted off the campus and kid was kicked out of school (private). These are the fucktards you want deciding if something offends them?

yeah.... I see no issues with this approach...

Superintendent says Detroit schools 'deeply using critical race theory'https://www.foxnews.com/us/superintendent-says-detroit-schools-deeply-using-critical-race-theory
The superintendent of Detroit Public Schools Community District (DPSCD) said earlier this month that schools in his district are "deeply using critical race theory," claiming students must learn about historical injustice in the United States "to better understand who they are."
Superintendent Nikolai Vitti made the remarks during a Nov. 9
school board meeting, footage of which went viral Tuesday after being disseminated on Twitter by Manhattan Institute senior fellow Christopher Rufo.

"Our curriculum is deeply using critical race theory, especially in social studies, but you’ll find it in English, language arts, and the other disciplines," Vitti said. "We’re very intentional about creating a curriculum, infusing materials and embedding critical race theory within our curriculum."

"As was stated by speakers today, it's because students need to understand the truth of history, understand the history of this country to better understand who they are and about the injustices that have occurred in this country," Vitti added.

Vitti also criticized HB 5097, which Michigan House lawmakers approved this month to ban "implicit race or gender stereotyping" in the state's K-12 schools. The bill has since been referred to the state Senate Committee on Education and Career Readiness.

Referring to Democratic Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, Vitti said, "I think our best strategy politically is to lean on the governor to veto it, as she has done with other legislation that has passed in Michigan over the last couple of years."

Republicans in the state House approved the bill in a 55-0 vote, but Democrats refused to vote on the bill at all because not every lawmaker who wanted to speak against the measure was allowed to do so.

"A yes vote means taking a firm stance against the absurd claim that individuals bear collective guilt for historical wrongs committed by those who happen to share their race or their gender," said Republican state Rep. Andrew Beeler, who was the main sponsor of the bill.

Vitti did not respond to Fox News' request for comment in time for publication.
At least 30 school districts use children's book that teaches 'whiteness' is an evil contract with the devil
https://www.theblaze.com/news/childrens-book-whiteness-contract-with-devil
At least 30 public school districts from 15 different states teach about race using a children's book that claims "whiteness" is a contract with the devil, filmmaker and journalist Christopher Rufo reported this week.

What are the details?
The book, titled "Not My Idea: A Book About Whiteness," was published in 2018 by Dottir Press and written by progressive children's author Anastasia Higginbotham.

It follows the story of a young white girl who wrestles with the issue of race after seeing a news report of a police officer shooting and killing an unarmed black man. The child tries to get answers from her white family members, but they either remain silent or make excuses. So she sets out on an educational quest herself, first discovering the harmful reality of white supremacy in America and then resolving to dismantle it.

Based solely on the plot, the book — though certainly hamfisted and partisan — might not be considered all that radical. But what's particularly troubling are the downright racist insinuations made about white people that are sprinkled throughout.

One such insinuation occurs toward the end of the book when the author writes, "Whiteness is a bad deal ... it always was," in response to a picture of the devil holding out "a contract binding you to whiteness."

In case there were any questions about the identity of the devilish character, the author added, "Dude, we can see your pointy tail."

According to the whiteness contract, signees are promised "stolen lands," "stolen riches," and "special favors." In return, whiteness gets to "mess endlessly with the lives of ... all fellow humans of color for the purpose of profit" — oh, and "your soul."

What else?
In the book's foreword, Higginbotham claims that she wrote the book to help her own white children "dismantle white supremacy."

Watch below as a YouTube personality reads through the entire book. The part about the whiteness contract with the devil comes up at the 11:23 mark.

"You can be white without signing onto whiteness," the author claims.

Anything else?
According to Rufo, the school districts that have adopted the book into their curricula have done so by scheduling read-alouds in class, asking parents to read the book to their children, or including the book in recommended reading lists.

Rufo noted that in doing so, the school districts are trafficking "the noxious principles of race essentialism, collective guilt, and anti-whiteness" into classrooms.

He also pointed out that that the idea of "whiteness" as a form of "stolen land and riches" is derived from "one of critical race theory's founding texts, 'Whiteness As Property,' authored by Cheryl Harris in 1993."

"They've directly adapted CRT for elementary schools," he argued.
Raytheon tells white employees to pay ‘reparations,’ promote defunding police, confront ‘privilege’ and more in new critical race training
https://americanmilitarynews.com/2021/07/report-raytheon-tells-white-employees-to-pay-reparations-promote-defunding-police-confront-privilege-and-more-in-new-critical-race-training/
On Tuesday, prominent critical race theory critic Christopher Rufo shared documents reportedly obtained from within the defense contractor Raytheon, which tells white employees to “identify their privilege” and provides a list of resources to “understand and share what ‘defund the police’ really means,” “decolonize your bookshelf” and “participate in reparations.
Rufo tweeted, “SCOOP: Raytheon, the nation’s second-largest defense contractor, has launched a critical race theory program that encourages white employees to confront their ‘privilege,’ reject the principle of ‘equality,’ and ‘defund the police.’ Let’s review the internal documents.”

“Last summer, Raytheon CEO Greg Hayes launched the Stronger Together campaign instructing employees on ‘becoming an anti-racist today.’ He signed a corporate diversity statement and then asked all Raytheon employees to sign the pledge and ‘check [their] own biases,'” Rufo continued. “The program is centered on ‘intersectionality,’ a core component of critical race theory that divides the world into competing identity groups, with race, gender, religion, sexual orientation, and other categories defining an individual’s place within the hierarchy of oppression.”

Rufo tweeted, “Raytheon then asks white employees to deconstruct their identities and ‘identify [their] privilege.’ The company argues that white, straight, Christian men are at the top of the oppression hierarchy—and must work on ‘recognizing [their] privilege’ and ‘step aside’ for minorities.”

“Raytheon tells employees to ‘identify everyone’s race’ during workplace conversations,” Rufo’s Twitter thread continued. “Whites must ‘listen to the experiences’ of ‘marginalized identities’ and should ‘give [those with such identities] the floor in meetings or on calls, even if it means silencing yourself.'”

“Next, Raytheon explicitly instructs employees to oppose ‘equality,’ defined as ‘treating each person the same . . . regardless of their differences,’ and strive instead for ‘equity,’ which ‘focuses on the equality of the outcome,'” Rufo tweeted.

Rufo included a purported Raytheon internal slide that said, “Equality is a noble goal. Equal treatment and access to opportunities help each of us perform our best within a shared set of parameters. But we really need to be striving for equity, where we focus on the equality of the outcome, not the equality of the experience by taking individual needs and skills into account.”

“Finally,” Rufo’s tweet thread concludes, “in a collection of recommended resources, the company encourages white employees to ‘defund the police,’ ‘participate in reparations,’ ‘decolonize your bookshelf,’ ‘join a local ‘white space.'”

The slide referring to defunding the police states, “Understand and share what ‘defund the police’ really means. It’s about a new, smarter approach to public safety, wherein we demilitarize the police and allocate resources into education, social service, and other root causes of crimes.”

The slide calling to “participate in reparations” provides a link to a Facebook group on the topic and states, “Remember reparations isn’t just monetary — share your time, skills, knowledge, connections, etc. Thank you to Clyanna Blyanna for suggesting this addition.”

Raytheon has not responded to an American Military News request for comment at the time of publishing.

Raytheon isn’t the first U.S. defense contractor to draw scrutiny over its diversity training efforts. In June, Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AR) called on Lockheed Martin to address reports that more than 1,000 of its employees were made to attend and in which company employees broadly linked the term “white men” with terms like “racist,” “privileged,” and “KKK.”

Rufo tweeted he would be appearing on Fox host Tucker Carlson’s show Tuesday night “to discuss this explosive story.”

Carlson recently criticized U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman Gen. Mark Milley for comments in which Milley defended teaching critical race theory in the military and appeared to link the Jan. 6 breach of the U.S. Capitol by demonstrators to “white rage.”
What Critical Race Theory Has Wrought
A new video essay explores the theoretical roots and practical consequences of the controversial ideology.

https://www.city-journal.org/theoretical-roots-and-practical-consequences-of-critical-race-theory

Critical race theory is rapidly spreading through America’s public institutions. Yet most Americans have little understanding of the theory and how it affects their lives. In a new video essay, City Journal contributing editor Christopher F. Rufo explores the intellectual roots of critical race theory, summarizes his investigative reporting on this topic, and explains how citizens can fight back in their communities.

So "Cuddles" or should I say "Here4Money"... or any of your previous aliases...

So you still support demeaning and abusing children in the classroom on the basis of race?

At this point the Democrats -- except for extreme progressives -- have entirely walked away from defending the use of Critical Race Theory oriented lesson plans in K-12 classrooms. First the Democrats tried to claim that CRT lessons did not occur -- which merely served to outrage parents who showed up with many examples. Then the Democrats attempted to soft-pedal it as not abusive under different names like "equity" -- which also infuriated parents.

At this point Democrats are very aware that pushing CRT is an issue which will cause them to lose nearly all the competitive races as outraged non-party affiliated parents who represent a large portion of the independent electorate vote against Democratic candidates in local, state and federal races -- turning 2022 into a disaster for Democrats.

Obviously when black parents start showing up in school board meetings to protest CRT in towns where the majority of students are minorities -- then you can be assured that the CRT issue is dead for Democrats.

Sadly -- as I mentioned many times before -- the issue of Critical Race Theory lesson plans in the classroom should have been handled by local school boards and education professionals. Instead it has been "promoted" by right-wing activists into a state and national issue. And -- of course -- state legislatures have overstepped by passing legislation which suppresses the appropriate education of all of our history (effectively "white washing it") rather than simply banning lesson plans which abuse & demean children on the basis of race. There are many examples of state level overreach which includes the DeSantis administration in Florida which banned a calculus textbook merely because it mentioned two black mathematicians -- while containing no other material which could be considered "offensive" (well, unless you find calculus equations offensive).

At this point CRT is a dead issue for Democrats.
You may see some extreme progressives push it. You may see some news editorial & opinion pieces from journalists about it -- but for the core of Democrats it is a toxic issue to touch -- because they have been so obviously burned with their CRT narrative. The only place I see Democrats speaking up regarding "CRT" is at the state level when Republican legislatures overreach on imposing educational restrictions -- but even this is now rare. Simply because Republicans merely need to mention "CRT" in regards to their bill and outraged parents already abused by lesson plans in their local districts will support the Republicans wholeheartedly.

CRT is not being discussed by democrats because it's a non existent issue. Hell, it even appears to have lost some of its luster for repugs that are now perfectly fine w/trashing the education system for their end indoctrination goals. It's basically the same 180 they did on social media & voter influence.

Can't walk away from Harvey the CRT white rabbit, he's always in your head G.

Stop watching Fox, stop browsing the Daily (Dirty) Caller and he will hop away.

CRT is not being discussed by Democrats because a train being driven by parents and politicians has already rode over them at the state level over the past few months. The entire CRT discussion as entered a new stage -- and Democrats have lost hugely. The entire discussion has moved well beyond the failed Democratic talking point that CRT is a "non existent issue". It obviously is an issue.

It's not like there is no proof that CRT is not being taught in school systems. This is an argument that is long lost by Democrats.

Over recent months --- A large number of U.S. states have now passed laws against teaching CRT in the classroom. Some of these state laws allow parents to sue the local school system if the violate the state law. Many of the state laws include both CRT and Common Core as banned items -- which in reality are totally separate issues which are not linked.

Time for an overview of the current CRT landscape which has changed greatly over the first part of 2022.

Let's take a look at a few recent examples in states as reference in regards to where things are at in regards to states and CRT laws:

Family sues WCS over alleged Critical Race Theory law violation
A family sued the Williamson County School Board Friday, challenging the board’s adoption of a curriculum that the group claims violate Tennessee law prohibiting the teaching of Critical Race Theory and Common Core.

Freedom from CRT: State bans on critical race theory start in time for July Fourth
https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/...tate-bans-on-critical-race-theory-july-fourth

Additionally across the nation newly voted-in GOP local school board members are removing CRT from the curriculum:

Forest Hills meeting ends with resolution against critical race theory

Kennewick School Board moves to protect children from harmful Critical Race Theory ideology
https://www.washingtonpolicy.org/pu...en-from-harmful-critical-race-theory-ideology

At this point --- with the support of large numbers of parents -- the CRT issue has become a mute issue with Democrats which they are unwilling to discuss and is in the rear view mirror.

Sadly the entire CRT issue has been overblown at the state level -- since Republicans knew they could "score points" with it. In fact -- it is a "no lose" issue for Republicans -- just reference one of the many documented stories about children in the classroom being demeaned & abused on the basis of race -- and it is an instant win.

Unfortunately the "state definitions" banned CRT go well beyond "actual CRT" but encompass all diversity education which provides a broad overview of U.S. history. This actually undermines K-12 education across the U.S. -- and in my opinion is very unfortunate. CRT is an issue which should have been handled at the local level by school boards and education administrators --- on the basis of making all children feeling comfortable in the classroom and not having lesson plans instituted which demeaned them on the basis of race.

As a side note -- let me state I have written our state representatives in North Carolina multiple times over the past year opposing bills in our NC State Legislature regarding CRT which handcuff educators from providing a full view of U.S. history without somehow triggering penalties in the law and burdening schools systems with compliance tracking including House Bill 234 which Governor Cooper vetoed. Crazy old GWB still using Fox news a "proof".

He's crazy you know, not like a Fox though.

Its calles a wedge fella, CRT must be real because parents are afraid of it now. Yeah.. Next job opening for a witchfinder you should apply.

You and Fox are Trump trying to make a big lie, but he knew he was doing it.

Now I have my dinner from El Astor, not been in three years nearly due to the pandemic and I miss the nosh.
