Crazy paper trading day

See, that's why I'm saying bluffing in Omaha doesn't play as a big a role. Sounds like it becomes more chess-like since even the wiki page for it says 'that Omaha is a game of "the nuts", i.e. the best possible high or low hand, because it frequently takes "the nuts" to win a showdown'. You end up playing the actual card combinations instead of trying to read a player.

Exactly.

Each to their own but NLHE is the benchmark for a reason.

With a forum full of systematic traders and use of analytics, I would have thought limit HE would be everyone's go-to. It's a boring game. If you stay boring, you'll do well. Just need to play your own cards and the board.

Also, for whatever reason, limit is more prevalent in Canada than in the US (or at least used to be), particularly Ontario.

See you at the 20/40 table at Bellagio.

High-low or straight? Pot-limit? I'm guessing bluffing doesn't play as big a role?

Straight-up. And bluffing does work into the game a great deal. You'll see pots grow to tremendous size with all the check-raising in the betting rounds. Give it a try for free on one of those free poker sites, and you'll recognize the appeal.

Ill give it another look based on the reasons you've outlined...but it'll be no limit at the Bellagio! hahaha

Limit Omaha is not the same as Limit HE. Two totally different games.

Agreed. I never said they were the same. PLO players are true gamblers that like action. LHE players stack their chips to align the colours along the chip edges.

Aside: I used to be a casino dealer 20+years ago when i was in school.

Edit: sorry read limit Omaha wrong. I haven’t really been around that game.

You know of any good practice web-apps? I'm thinking about going pro and want to try with fake money first.

I haven't been on any in years. I am guessing Zynga is still a good site. (I never did any games on a smartphone, I did it all on PC. But I am sure they have phone apps by now.)

I prefer the PC too actually. I'm getting older and my eyes can't stare at a small screen for too long. From your comments about pitfall I think we're probably near the same age. I'm thinking about upgrading to a fancy flip-phone with big buttons soon.... they call it the "jitterbug" or something?
