CQG vs AMP vs MT5

I'm at a lost to figure out who to contact regarding price discrepancies. People at MQL says i need to contact the broker, AMP told me it's not their issue. Contacted CQG few weeks back..they just brushed me off after initial email

I feel like i'm the only one that runs algo on MT5 to trade futures, cause it seems like I"m the only one who brings this up.

Maybe i need to give up on CQG/MT5 and move over to NT8. Algo trading is impossible with these price discrepancies.

Case in point today. MNQ and MYM both had price offset on the OHLC

i use MT5 via AMP. I can't exactly tell what you're seeing in the 2nd set of images, but I see it in the first. CQG and Ninja will have slightly different data on tick based charts, but they should align as you said on time based.

oh now I see on the 2nd set.... close price different by 1.

you can try MT5 via AxiomaticAI via Ironbeam. they claim to offer DMA which is apparently not how AMP does it... although I don't exactly know how AMP does it. it was very hard to get a clear answer from them when my MT5 terminal would be lagging 1-5 seconds behind Quantower (via AMP) or Ninja8's feeds. that problem hasn't happened in about a year, but it was awful when it took place. this is when I began exploring Quantower as an alternative.

I may be setting up with Ironbeam later today or tomorrow to compare their MT5 vs. AMP's. I am reluctant to leave AMP because they've been fantastic overall but if it makes sense then it makes sense. MT5 is where I have everything setup / being setup and I've put a lot of effort / $ into getting it working the way I need it.

edit: in my 3rd paragraph regarding lag - Quantower and MT5 were both using the same CQG feed - which told me the lag was 100% from MT5's side. again, this is where it was very hard to get a clear answer about how AMP's MT5 works.

lol your response gives me the feeling that it's hopeless to get this fixed cause it mgiht be issues on both cqg and mt5 side

well, don't despair. I made A LOT of noise with AMP over the aforementioned lag issue - I'm talking full-on screaming at one of the tech guys on the phone. he couldn't even explain ping to me and he was in tech..... BUT the guy knew trading and we came to a resolution after several days. I converted all of my stuff into Quantower, which i really do recommend for manual trading. automated - not so sure. my programmer had just learned C# (for QT) so that could have been the issue.

long story short - if I had to trade forever in AMP MT5, I still would. I am just going to see Ironbeam's version as a comparison. like I said, AMP has not had an MT5 lag issue again like I saw previously after that week of noisemaking from me. I believe you completely that their tech guys can be hard to get answers / clarity from.

if MT5 fails for you, give QT a try. It's really, really, really fast and stable with their CQG. I also tried my own license of QT with Rithmic. I have an auto-stop/trailing-stop script that actively moves my stops and after 4 trades Rithmic decided to give me a warning about too many order cancels in a 30-second period. In 2022? Really? My last name isn't Sarao. I closed that sub-account and went back to CQG's side. Rithmic also gave me scares with order cancels. sometimes, they just wouldn't cancel over and over and I had to get into RTrader Pro to do it there. I never had such problems with QT/CQG, but many with QT/Rithmic.
 
the last thing I recall AMP telling me was something to the effect of - there is an MT5 server somewhere overseas that data has to go through before it gets back to Chicago. but then i think a day later that tune changed and they said everything was in the US. maybe try to get some clarity about that because if indeed the data goes from US-overseas-US, then that isn't ideal by any means.

don't quote me on that because it was about a year ago and I am not 100% certain I understood him correctly - nor do I know he understood it correctly lol. i'd be happy if AMP chimes in to set the record straight here. like I said, it can be a challenge but ultimately they will help you with enough persistence.
 
i just have to bother cqg about it. Tried to contact mt5/mql..but all they have is a forum for issues and people there just said contact your broker. fuck my life...

hell maybe i should complain to NFA about mispricing.
 
I came back to write that their MT5 is lagging again the way I described. that's so unfortunate. yeah, that's the kind of response I got at first too. I opened QT and saw ES trade up to 3648 and MT5 was still at 3640 lol.

sigh.

I will let you know how Ironbeam's MT5 is.
 
try downloading QT. you probably won't have any issues with automation - I think my programmer was just too new with their language. however, I do get the absolute pain in the ass that a full platform conversion is, so, yeah.

for comparison, QT fills are 20ms all day long. MT5 ranges from 42-90ms. this is over hundreds of trades over the last year. both on CQG, all from my same office location.
 
the thought about going through the programmign the algo with someone in a new platform stress me out. it was painful with mt5, and i'm already familiar with the platfrom
