CPU problems when running TWS on ibook

I trade with an aapl ibook G4, RAM upgraded recently to 768MB and clear through IB.
The CPU is always maxed when TWS is running and performance has deteriorated dramatically lately.
I'd like to know if anyone else here is using ibook and trading with IB and has experienced similar problems.
Things are so bad that it takes 20min to load up a chart and it's almost impossible to place orders and get filled due to delays.
Before I buy a new computer I'd like to know if it is possible to solve the problem.
Any feedback is appreciated

Do you have -Dsun.java2d.noddraw=true set?

Also you could try both 1.4 and 1.5 JREs

I have the 10.3.9 version and I cannot download the software in your link.

Are u using an ibook?

Goto www.isohunt.com and get a later version of osx.

ehmm...apparently I can't download OS X 1.4 because I need to have 5.0 java 4.1 installed which cannot be installed in the first place without
having Tiger.

Am I missing something?

Yeah.

You don't need to update java in order to update from 10.3.x to 10.4 (tiger).

FYI, the site recommended to you above is not a legal source for Apple software. 10.4 retails for around $130.
