The nfl let this shit get out of hand, now their only option is to convince people that the anthem protestors are heroes OR co-opt it in some way to make it meaningless. Jones kneeling with the team is just the first step to turning opinion. Before the season is over there will be crowds cheering for these fuckers when they kneel.

I have never cared much for team sports, i am happy to say i have not watched a game in years.

You may be right but if I owned a team, I wouldn't want to be taking that gamble. I sense a lot of anger from the fan base. Players are now regarded not as community heroes but as mercenaries. Goodell's obsession with disciplining players over relatively minor incidents taking place in their private lives has tainted the whole league. His dishonesty and lack of perspective was on full display in the Deflategate fiasco.

A good first step for the league would be to shitcan this empty suit and install a commissioner who commands some respect. Unfortunately, they would probably pick someone even worse.
