You make an interesting point. In our area it has some local context. We had a case here where a teen died in their sleep. The autopsy showed fentanyl and marijuana. The parents did not want to believe that their precious child would ever do drugs. The police found the other teens the kid was smoking dope with -- and there was a whole legal situation where the cops were hunting down the dealer who sold them the fentanyl laced marijuana. Of course, all-the-while the anti-vaxxers were proclaiming the teen died from the Covid vaccine (but he was not vaccinated). The entire situation was sad.

Most hospitals & youth centers here in Québec Canada have pamphlets that essentially say the following (translated)...

Those that smoke cannabis bought on the street should be aware of the following symptoms that present while overdosing: extreme drowsiness, snoring, myosis (pinpoint pupils), difficulty breathing, and cyanosis (blue lips and nails.

The symptoms are likely to cause cardiopulmonary arrest.

You know it's a problem when they already have pamphlets about it in the hospital lobbies and youth centers.

The heart has stopped pumping. The heart is not getting enough blood so it starts to die. Caused by an abnormal heart rhythm. Caused by a blockage of blood flow to the heart.

Mexico and China are the primary source countries for fentanyl and fentanyl-related substances trafficked directly into the United States. India is emerging as a source for finished fentanyl powder and fentanyl precursor chemicals.

Serveral years ago, the founder of one of India's generic drug companies (they also produced Ivermectin) was found guilty with 4 other excutives in U.S. courts for distributing Fentanyl-based pain medication involving pay bribes and kickbacks to targeted practitioners in exchange for increased Subsys prescriptions and increased dosage of their drugs.
