First understand that after natural COVID infection -- 40% of people don't develop sufficient anti-body immunity to stop re-infection. For the other 60% by the 9 month mark over half do not have sufficient anti-body immunity to stop re-infection.
The anti-body levels declining with this generation of COVID-19 vaccines are expected. These vaccines are only expected to be effective for one to two years before a booster is required. So this news about vaccinated anti-body levels waning after 3 months is not surprising and not in any way alarming.
There is work being done on the next generation of coronavirus vaccines which are expected to be universal, permanent vaccines -- but we are about 5 years away minimum to their introduction.

Let's read the article outlining the research again. 11.6% of the naturally infected don't develop anti-bodies from Day 1. 26.8% of the infected have anti-bodies that rapidly wane nearly immediately. The total is 38.4% where anti-bodies effectively provide no protection in the naturally infected nearly immediately.

The presence of antibodies in the blood is not the only indicator of immunity or increased immunity to covid.
Aside from the T-cell discussion, antibody levels do not reveal the degree to which native immune cells have been programmed as memory cells with the code for attacking covid. So even if the antibodies wane, the memory cells are prepared to duplicate them at a rate that far surpasses what an unprogrammed native cell can do when starting from scratch.
That factor of course varies too. Just saying it is another- an important factor- that needs to be measured separately. If we were doing animal studies. You would measure both the serum antibody level and also measure how fast the antibody level rises in a low-serum antibody animal who has previously had covid compared to one who has not. More difficult in humans for ethical reasons.
That's what I always understood----that the body can create the antibodies quickly once you've had it to prevent further infection.
