Masks are not needed outdoors, just masks are needed because we live in a society of very mixed ability.

Colombia has not a great vaccination rate and is the home of Mu but.. The deaths have fallen away, decoupled nicely in combination with the vaccination they do have.

Everyone wears a mask in public and everyone knows this is for kids, low IQ adults, elderly and pushy little sociopath jerks who kept 'forgetting' to put on their mask when it is needed.

Once again -- as outlined in the how anti-vaxxers co-opt science and recent fact checks -- there is one non-peer reviewed pre-print study on the face of the earth out of Israel that anti-vaxxers are using to push misinformation about natural immunity . The study actually states that people need at least one dose of the vaccine after being infected to have the best immunity.

As I have stated for many months -- both first-generation vaccination and natural immunity fade very quickly (within two years estimated) for Covid-19 --- as outlined in antibody levels in individuals. This is why vaccination and boosters is so critical to protecting the health of society. Natural antibody immunity in 40% of individuals after Covid-19 infection is not present at sufficient levels at the six month mark to prevent re-infection. The situation for natural antibody immunity at the 9 months mark is even more dismal.

Of course when more infectious variants of a disease comes out the efficacy of vaccines is reduced. It may have been 95% against the original Covid -- there should be no surprise that it is lower against Delta.

However the bottom line is the best & fastest route to ending the Covid-19 pandemic and get back to a situation mirroring pre-Covid life will be to get 90% of the population vaccinated as soon as possible. --- and to keep those vaccines current via boosters at required intervals until a "universal, permanent coronavirus vaccine" comes out in about 5 years (estimated).

Results SARS-CoV-2-naïve vaccinees had a 13.06-fold (95% CI, 8.08 to 21.11) increased risk for breakthrough infection with the Delta variant compared to those previously infected, when the first event (infection or vaccination) occurred during January and February of 2021. The increased risk was significant (P<0.001) for symptomatic disease as well.
