You realize as of a few weeks ago, live science presented a study which said they could not find the had any efficacy for fabric masks?

masks are to reduce the event of you spraying you nasty saliva out into the air for other peple to ingest and get infected. That has been the main use of masks since the beginning of time with respect to masks and that always works. People in Asia do not wear masks to stop from catching something, it is often to stop them from spreading something unintentionlly. That is because they are more considerate than Americans and the main reason why the spread in countries outside of China was controlled so well.

if you are wearing a mask and I cough in your face, of course it will not stop you getting sick if I spray you with saliva and you touch your face. But if you cough with a mask, the odds of you passing on saliva to someone else is reduced SIGNIFICANTLY.

I don't disagree. Waiting for herd immunity is a non starter, simply cannot wait that long. The other extreme saying I'll go out however they please are also being irrational. Use the prevention you listed and I would add some penalty for non compliance, especially going out while sick. To all of these I must maintain my perfect attendance assholes, show up sick and you're fired.

The extend the shutdown until total safety is declared crowd have one and only one date in mind, November 3, 2020. Democrat gets elected the all clear will be given regardless of Covid status. Trump gets elected and we must stay locked down for all perpetuity.

Intelligence is somewhere in the middle of that and I don't see it happening in this country anytime soon....

Mexico and DR (many others as well but following this two) are working on phased in opening over the next week. There are coordinated efforts and rules in place that are pretty reasonable and looking forward to their success. I doubt wee will learn from them because as Trump said today our testing is way better than in any other country so we obviously have nothing to learn from Asia or Latin America.

It is interesting to note that one of our state's worst hotspots is a meat processing plant where they had a policy that in order to get your bonus you needed to have perfect attendance. Everyone was showing up sick in the COVID era.
