Covid Relief and Stimulus package 3.0

One can easy argue that should be drawn the other direction showing it's the left which has moved further out. The point, which seems to escape you, is both party candidates at this point are terrible choices, the entire system is broken and corrupt, and we are desperately in need of a viable third party. Problem is, the also corrupt media and corporate establishment, which own the whole fucked up system, will now allow this to happen.

Joe Biden was not a terrible choice. He may not knock your socks off but the job will get done. Maybe not your choice, definitely not FDR or Reagan, but definitely not terrible.

Trump on the hand was a terrible choice from almost every aspect of the job from actual management and vision to leadership to basic humanity. The man had very few qualities that suited being president of the United States. Truly a terrible choice.

Precisely. What's hilarious is when the people who are quite obviously very much progressive left try to claim - repeatedly - in this site that they are "centrists".

I think that’s something we all tell ourselves. “You’re not a centrist because I’m a centrist.”

Agreed. This is a perceptual issue. I think the republican party has moved "extreme right", probably just as much as Cap'n thinks it was the left moving.

That's a fair point. But there are really hilarious examples where it is quite obvious that someone claiming to be a particular political position are very obviously not. Like a self-proclaimed "Libertarian" on this site believing and advocating for government bailouts. Or a liberal who claims to be a "centrist" supporting trans-men in women's sports, which is so very NOT a centrist position.

Many times you will see liberals say "I'm not progressive, I'm very center." You rarely see conservatives defensively claim to not be conservative.

One example you give is economic, the other social.

Are we talking about the political parties, or the country at large. Both political parties are moving away from center and we can debate which one has gone further and faster.
The country at large, that's a different story. It has moved decidedly left and has been going that direction for decades. Proof, in no particular order.
Abortion on demand legal in most states.
Gay marriage.
Black man elected president, twice.
Kinda black and female VP.
Black history month.
Transgender recognized as something other than a mental illness.
Transgender in military, public school system, government, etc.
Mostly secular public school system.
Statues and monuments removed as being offensive.
Women in every job description
I could go on and on. Now before some radical leftist puts words in my mouth, I would say the majority of things listed are not bad, and in many cases good things, when not taken to extremes, and there's the rub.
The political extremists are either magnifying things or minimize the impact. Point is, none of this even exists or ever would happen in here4money portrayed image of racist/fascist/sexist/homophobia/white privilege America. Not one thing. The country at large has been and continues to move left, just not fast enough, or far enough to satisfy the political extremists.

Precisely. This is because anyone can be fiscally one way, socially another. I'd argue that is exactly what a real Libertarian is: Fiscally conservative, socially liberal.

see Captain, although you recognize not "all these things are bad", thinking blacks holding political office or secular education as "a leftist" position is the problem.
