When WRB likes your post, the villages main idiot that's how stupid you are.
Hell of an argument you have, well researched obviously. It´s always impressive to be addressed by someone smarter than oneself, thank u.
Well behaved and disciplined canadians are the ones going through a new lock down btw, although it might well come here soon.

Those stats are available online.

Ok I looked at today's data :
Spain : Infections 9906, Deaths 203
Canada : Infections 1395, Deaths 11
Overall, the deaths per million figure is Spain is almost triple that in Canada.
Ontario hasn't locked down today but three areas of Quebec did. Given that we are in a second wave, with most businesses open and a lot of schools open, there is a need to stay alert to the short term trends and avoid getting into a situation like Spain or Florida ( 100+ deaths today just when it looked like things were getting better ).
I take it as long as you don't know any of those 203 people you are ok with them dying.
Apples to oranges. You are comparing a country to the whole world using different time frames (4-5 months to 9)
I would like to know how many people die annually due to common flu worldwide, though. Oh wait:
"The World Health Organization estimates that worldwide, annual influenza epidemics result in about 3-5 million cases of severe illness and about 250,000 to 500,000 deaths."
OK, so I am not sure how long the average flu seasons last, but the winter itself is not longer than 5 months, top. Thus if half million people could die in 5 months or less due to flu, 1 million dead due to Covid in 9 months is pretty much the same or only slightly more.
Sure eventually Covid will win, but so far the difference is not huge.
There are about 1250 people dying on any given day in Spain, it looks to some of u death is a new phenomena. Average age of death of covid victims in Sweden was 2 years BEYOND the life expectancy in the country. Last number I saw from Spain, those people dying obviously because of covid had a bright future, they just happened to be over 85 y o. Dying ain"t fun, but u can t sacrifice a whole society because life expectancy of a very few takes a small hit. Besides I be ok with 20 million spaniards who supported the lock down executed.
Madrid and Spanish government found some agreement, more closure tomorrow, it s very obvious here much of the decisions are politically driven with public health taking a back seat.
You seem challenged by statistics; the goal is to not kill more people. It is immoral to cut off the lives of older people just because you aren't old yourself and want a night at the pub. Which is often what it boils down to once you get past all the bs people say. You aren't sacrificing a whole society by acting responsibly with respect to Covid. Latest estimates are Canada's GDP in 2021 will grow 4%.
