Wearing a face mask has given many a false sense of security.
- Many not wearing a proper face mask...they're wearing the wrong type of face mask.
- Wearing a face mask does not imply to not social distance and not wash hands.
Usually those wearing full medical protection gear or full bio-hazard gear are doing so because they know they're working closely with others in which there's no proper social distancing, no adequate air purification system that results in using a decontamination area after they complete whatever it was that they were doing in that area.
Obviously, the average person in public settings is
not going to be wearing full protection gear like that...that's similar to what hospital medical people wear in quarantine facilities, special infection areas of hospitals that have highly contagious patients.
- In 2016, I became infected with a very deadly infection. Quarantine in an special area of the hospital for a month. Every medical personnel entering my room looked like astronauts.
Prior to the above, I was in an ICU with other patients...two of whom died from the same infection and another survived and had to be quarantine although they enter the ICU for different reasons (e.g. car accident).
This past weekend, I watched a soccer game in which the coach being interviewed would pull down their face mask so that he could be heard clearly when he spoke. In fact, its very common to see people doing such...
- Very problematic...no protection especially if the person is talking a lot (more viral load). Yet, if he were to get sick, he will say he wore a face mask and that it did not help him.
Last of all, there's a reason why bio-hazard medical personnel wear face mask
with medical goggles indoors. Sometimes the indoor building doesn't have adequate air flow and lacks air purification systems...most buildings do not...they just have normal air purification systems or rely on open windows to create air flow when someone enter / exit a room to go to another room in the building.
- Face masks mainly prevents you from infecting someone else especially if you were to be asymptomatic or very little symptoms while Covid-19 positive.
If you remove your face mask in an indoor environment with others doing the same...you're touching infected areas and then eating / drinking...very problematic.
Question - Go to a bar with +20 people and none of them wearing a face mask except for you. You pull down your face mask to drink a beer or to talk to someone...you're not protected
or you're protected ?
It's tough to imagine something can be real & deadly when you can not see it and that takes 3 - 14 days to show any symptoms.
