The scientific community, the world over, takes this pandemic seriously.
Our politicians bungled things badly.
The US has roughly 4 percent of the world's population and 25 percent of the cases. We have handled the virus so badly a number of countries that are open to tourism do not allow tourists fron the US.
Had we taken immediate, smart, and massive action, we would have been far better off.
Want to know how quickly and harshly we should have acted?
Take a look at New Zealand and Mongolia. Both countries essentially squashed the virus in timely manners.
_______
Less people have died in the US from the virus than many thought, because they really died from preexisting conditions?
Sheesh.... yes: The virus kills mostly people with severe preexisting conditions (the old). However, the virus has pushed many of these people with severe health conditions into severe outcomes that would not have happened otherwise.
Other risk factors: not social distancing, not wearing a mask in public, being low in vitamin D, regularly eating in restaurants, etc.
Happy to see it. Thought we Americans had a lock nowadays on wackos.
Are they touting gargling with bleach also?

That's putting a rosy complexion on things, comparing states like the one I live in, with Euro worse case situation Spain. Kinda like saying Chumpie is not so bad compared to Adolf.Plus we don t have any political party here opposed to major restrictions, US republican states must be better places than Spain to go through this mess.
Meanwhile I heard earlier on virus dies once it hits stomach acids - and thrives once it his nasal passages.Haven't seen that yet, but from Turvey's post mouthwash to fight virus spreading appears to be promoted in the UK.

Social media lol. Don't unless you are into disinformation and wingnut (left and right) conspiracies. That sounds fair, btw life in California looked very good during the Avril pseudo lockdown there compared to Spain, and european countries largely adopted lockdowns less strict than Spain, or none at all in Sweden.
Not following the situation in the US closely atm, but following quite a few athletes on social media and the ones in NJ and NYC seeem to be having a particularly tough time, not that I liked them much before but I don't think I've ever looked at US democrats with so much mistrust
Spain is very bad obviously for most athletes atm.
Sure the whole scientific community...

In Spain they are trying to sanction doctors who don't go along the mainstream opinion (they re usually called negationists and co spiracy theorists by the media), doubt it is a confortable position in Germany either. Easier to enjoy the clapping of millions of sheeps on their window and extra popularity on Tik Tok, coz it seems working doctors never had as much free time as during the lockdowns
Dunno about Mongolia, but it s a long stretch to say NZ covid policy is a great success
Besides I tried to upload a song video they show in my kids school but it seems the file is too long. That s afaik the most expensive school in Spain, and it pushes kids into being unhealthy spineless retards. Doubt it s any better in public schools
They sang it as well to 5th graders, yet it sounds like it's targetting kindergarteners and goes along the line :
"Corona is out there, Corona is in the air, I wear my mask all day, if someone gets close to me... NOPE! " (language of education is english)
Disastrous education, they have missed days, still have reduced hours, no library and rules detrimental to their mental and physical health, plus several parents in that school are to get a negative pcr test before (re)sending their kids to school because of very common health issues ( also know of parents in a similar situation in other schools)
Utter disaster imo after a total lockdown last spring, schools closed since March and kids not allowed to even play outside their house for around 8 weeks, many mostly locked in by their parents even after the timid reopening
