Prior to Omicron showing up in late November of 2021, you were very unlikely to get infected with Covid if you were vaccinated. The Covid vaccinated breakthrough rate prior to Omicron was a mere 0.56% which is 1/6th of the vaccinated breakthrough rate of the measles vaccine of over 3% in an environment where the virus is highly prevalent.
I had avoided up to this point. I realized it was a matter of time after seeing breakthrough cases on new variants and efficacy of my old boosters on them. It's endemic at this point so didn't stress over it....no masking unless at hospitals though I still avoid super crowded spaces. I'm back to 90% and been taking a regimen of Paxlovid someone gifted me. I tried staying upright all of yesterday and took some baby aspirin. The war's lost but the biggest battle was always buying time for med tech to catch up. I think we're there now.
If I were to do it over again, maybe I'd have postponed 2nd booster to cover newer variants.

There has been a good amount of debate whether people should hold off on their second booster to this fall when the Omicron specific booster is available, or get the booster now. I am holding off till this fall.
It will be interesting to see the effectiveness measurement of the Omicron specific booster in stopping Covid infections. With Omicron BA.5 the current Covid vaccines are down between 12% to 18% in stopping infection since the virus has evolved greatly. Hopefully the effectiveness of the Omicron specific booster is 70% or above with Omicron. One concern is that most of these Omicron boosters were formulated based on BA.1/BA.2 and now Omicron has evolved to BA.5/BA.6 with significant differences in the sub-variants.
I too am waiting until October although the Omicron specific booster for BA5/BA6 will not be available in my area...sometime in September.
Yet, I'm eligible for the old booster about early September. I plan to travel to a high Covid risk area with BA.5/BA.6 in November or December and wanted to make sure I have the Omicron specific booster and not the original booster (BA.1/BA.2)...too many breakthrough infections and too many natural immunity reinfections.
Right now, in my area, they're pushing hard the old original booster as a 2nd booster.
- Simply, I'm scheduling my boosters based on where I will be traveling and the Covid risk levels in those particular areas.

I took some of the NATURAL shit Lacesout recommended in my covid thread and was feeling better like a day later.I don't know for sure if it was because of taking the stuff he recommend because i had already had it around 5 days when I did.It was over about half the time than when I had it the first time so it could have really helped.
thanks, it's over now, little bit of phlegm, I'll likely finish the 5 days of paxlovid just to avoid another mutation from this guy. Immunization did its job #TrustTheScience
You did have it in your system. It's just like the flu. People get it and suffer no effects with or without the vaccine. Same with covid. People get it and suffer no effects with or without the vaccine. But the science is true. You "got" it.
