Just to be clear -- I do not support Gottlieb's assertion that the Pfizer pill marks the end of the pandemic and that the pandemic is ending this year.

The Covid-19 numbers seem stuck. That doesn't bode well for winter, experts say

Of course not, how else are we to derive pleasure from the force suffering of others.
I derive no pleasure in the pandemic not ending.
The only people who appear to be deriving pleasure from the pandemic not ending are the anti-vaxxers who are causing the pandemic to continue long into the future. Many anti-vaxxers are merely pushing their agenda along with Covid misinformation to score political points.
Unfortunately Goodlieb's assertion does not hold true when looking at the facts. The Pfizer drug is not a game changer for ending the pandemic - it does not stop the spread of the disease. Until the vaccination rate greatly increases we will be living in a environment over the next year or more where the pandemic is present at "pandemic levels' -- with many deaths, hospitalizations and cases (mainly with the unvaccinated) with widespread misery, more restrictions, and lockdowns due to the continued high prevalence of Covid. And things could get worse as new variants develop in the unvaccinated which are more infectious, more vaccine-evasive, and/or more deadly.

I wold say that total Blue deaths are greater then total Red deaths
New York could have killed less nursing home residents if they weren't stupidWelcome to 2021 -- where now the deaths in red counties are 3 times those in blue counties. Whether you count deaths per 100,000 or total deaths -- red counties are a fiasco. Here is a hint - red counties can avoid this problem with vaccination.
U.S. Covid Deaths Get Even Redder
The partisan gap in Covid’s death toll has grown faster over the past month than at any previous point.

Starting from today the next 3 months will probably see more deaths in the Blue states then Red states
So it trends.....To be fair look at total deaths in the life of Covid
