COVID-19: How government brainwashed GWB and others

We can review all of this, it’s fine by me. What I will say is that most of Covid policy was happening in real time and decisions were made based on the data at hand. What’s important to understand is that we now have a largely vaccinated population and we no longer need to take drastic or emergency measures with regard to Covid.

That was always the problem. People pushing a narrative that Covid wasn’t dangerous when it truly was for a significant portion of the population. It’s been a fight to get where we are but we are fortunate to be where we are.

Just as important, we had a Pandemic policy that was thrown out the window by the Trump/Pence Administration prior to the Pandemic.

They then had to scramble to create a new Pandemic policy for the Covid Pandemic in which most of which was later adopted by the Biden/Harris Administration as they learned more about Covid...

Publicly the Biden/Harris Administration stated they started from scratch when in reality we still had almost the same key individuals as the Trump/Pence Administration managing our public health policies.

Lets put it this way, when parts of the world were burning Covid dead in the streets (e.g. India and Brazil) or piling up bodies in the streets (e.g. Italy, Germany and France) to later be trucked away like cargo...

The United States was in denial including many members here at Elitetrader.com when you see them write its a HOAX, nobody died in my city or nobody died in my county...all because of political bullshit that primarily surfaced after Trump lost the U.S. Presidential elections.

Yet, the belief it was a Hoax started prior to the 2020 November Presidential elections or that it will be gone in a few months. That didn't work out too well and the Trump/Pence administration needed to lockdown the country & businesses mainly because most citizens refused to do their part to protect others in their community...the government had to do it for them.

Just as surprising, some ET members still today say it was a hoax or nobody in my county has died from Covid.

Personally, I was very happy to see our U.S. military reached +80% full vaccination rate prior to any vaccine mandate. Actually, not unusual considering we take many vaccines to enter the military and again for deployment to foreign countries.

Regardless, the reaction to the Covid Pandemic is now a sad part of our history with its commonality with the election deniers. I seriously doubt we've learned not to mix politics with a global health crisis...too many deaths and stressing our healthcare system.

I don't have any problem with policy happening in real-time and poor decisions being made. No one expects perfect execution, especially at the government level. But that's not how it went down. People tried to speak up - to question what had been proven science for decades (masks) and were silenced. Censored. Threatened, etc. That's not how science works. That's how Religion works. And now, those who did so are quietly slinking back into the darkness, pretending they were always open to discussion - other than the rabid looneys like GWB who insist they were right from the beginning.

What other side are you saying was “silenced?” Sometimes you just don’t get your way.

There’s legitimate grievances. I mentioned before closing schools and remote learning was absolutely a lesson learned. Probably a strategy focused on elderly and vulnerable would have saved more lives. But again these are decisions being made in real time and mostly at the state level.

If there was true discourse and doctors weren't afraid to express concerns openly, or banned, we might not have made the mistakes you claim we did as "oops".

As for decisions made at the state level, which I agree with, you can absolutely see the decisions made at the state level in Florida, which ended up being more correct than other states and you saw what lunacy that created in the media and the administration (the Biden admin). And the general public recognized it. That's why it leads the country in migration numbers.

My states of interest are Kentucky, Illinois, and South Dakota from the below Covid mortality state ranking.

Kentucky was the worst of the three while South Dakota was the best performer of the three mainly because of the effort to get the most vulnerable (e.g. Indigenous Americans, healthcare workers, disability) fully vaccinated that's far above the general population of the state.

• The two best performing states against Covid are Maine and South Dakota.

States I'm surprised the most about their excellent performance against Covid is Texas, Oklahoma and North Carolina because they are states with a large minority population.

Vaccines are flawed how? If it weren’t for vaccines we would not be open with such low hospitalizations and fatalities as we are today. Look at China’s current struggles. You shouldn’t take the vaccines for granted even if you’re part of the 23% that did not get vaccinated. The truth is you’re living in a vaccinated country and reaping the rewards.

Masks were effective and remain so. The elderly mostly were them in my church and it’s a good thing. As a matter of fact I wouldn’t be surprised to see vulnerable populations continue to mask up for years through flu season. Asian countries with masking culture did especially well through the pandemic without vaccination.

School is a different story, objectively closing schools and remote learning was a failure. There’s no doubt the data on that came back bad. That’s a true lesson learned.

I still don’t personally know any single doctor that was against vaccines or social distancing, masking. My personal doctor still wears an N95 and his office is masked. Pediatrician is the same way. Maybe a few outliers believed in letting the virus spread but very few and not part of the consensus.

Florida is a different climate and should not get spread like in colder weather states. Y’all did mess up with the masking before vaccinations became widespread. I can recall videos of sick people passing out in Florida trying to get care for Covid. It wasn’t as hunky dory as you want to portray it down there.

Florida‘a growing population is due to retirees. It’s a good place to retire and has nothing to do with Covid. People don’t like to be cold when they get old.
