Covered call BABA...What don't I see??

I got Ds in math...I have a BA and am smart, but see things differently. I was ADHD...Could recite a whole album and am good at Jeopardy, but math and art, good luck. I'll take a stab.

Assume it will be one year...Annualized return. Bought 100 shares of BABA for $22,500. Sold it a year from now at $23,000...$500. profit. The option money is $3,900.+$500.=$4,400. $4,400 divided by $22,500.= 19.55% return on the money. If I took the $3,900. and put it into something earning 1% or so, I would get over a 20% return on the money. A LOT OF IFS THERE...

Good explanation. By the way, I think I recall you sold a MCD 210 covered call about a year ago that expired this month. If you held onto that trade through expiration, that was the perfect strike to sell.

Thanks for the breakdown. I will have to learn about options one of these days, although it seems strange for me to project a price in the future and bet against or for it.
I'm lucky enough to have the cash to day trade fairly substantial amounts for relatively small gains that add up at the end if the year.

Yeah, I'm looking at that one. Didn't want to buy it back (unless it's a few cents). Otherwise let it go and look elsewhere...

You got me thinking...I ended up buying back the option today for 95 cents ($95.)...Paid too much. I quickly did a new covered call for the Jan 22 $250...I got $5.45 ($545.) for it. Automation will take over much of McDonald's work. The question is when...

A $15 national minimum wage will definitely make that happen sooner! In the short-term, they might take a hit.
Whatever automation at the drive thru they already have is annoying. Pull in and a voice says welcome to McDonald's you order and then a live voice comes on and you have to order again. I fail to see the point of the first voice. First world problems I know but it annoys me every time. Helpful menu hack. Order the Mcdouble no ketchup and mustard and sub mac sauce. No upcharge if it's in place of. Great snack for $2. Of course within 30 minutes of eating it I feel like shit for the next few. I have a problem.
