Why is Countrywide falling like the next Enron? Do you think there are accounting issues with them too? Do they really have a lot of debt to stress about?

i am more than willing to purchase this stock when anybody can confirm that mozilo or any other directors have purchased the stock themselves.
according to the latest filings the last sale was by mozilo on the 13th august 2007 and no other transactions have taken place.
this is half the problem countrywide has.
confidence and fear.
they want investors to bail them out and provide funds for liquidity but they are not prepared to purchase their own stock.

at this point if mozilo made a purchase he would likely be subject to an insiders trading query.

i agree.
senior executives , owners etc are very common sellers of their own stock so nobody cares as most are awarded through options.
but when insiders purchase their own stock people think that says a lot about the future of the company and faith etc.
as i said the fact he has over $500,000,000 in cash from his options sales and wont use a penny of it to buy his own stock clearly demonstrates he prefers cash rates to an investment in countrywide stock.
hence stock down.
the day he buys im in.

as little as six weeks ago he said everything was fine as he bailed out of 200,000 shares.
