Could we elect some politicians to make changes about this?

We don't elect politicians. We're just handed a plate of shit and ask to decide which turd we like best.

How would simply electing politicians change this? Here's an idea. Lets just deal in the truth and facts without the political agenda. I'm sure that would make a dramatic shift.
