Could/should Apple (AAPL) buy PayPal (PYPL)??

Could not disagree more with your assessments and opinions. But the absolute worse is horrendous and outright insulting fees it charges pretty much for EVERYTHING.

And of course that Thiel and Musk are/were involved... Lol

What is PayPal?
PayPal is a method for selling and buying things online and transferring money to friends and family in a convenient and inexpensive way, without requiring that you share financial information. With more than 400 million active account holders around the world, PayPal is a money transfer giant.

Because the service is so ubiquitous, many online merchants and customers know and trust it. Here’s what you need to know about how PayPal works.

PayPal snapshot

Fees:$0 to make a purchase or transfer money domestically using a bank account or your PayPal balance. 2.9% of the amount, plus 30 cents, to transfer funds using a credit card, debit card, or PayPal credit.

Transfer limits: Varies, $4,000-$60,000 per transaction.

User experience: A payments behemoth with a clean website, top-rated mobile apps.

Customer service: Live phone support available from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. PT daily; support via social media and the message center (when logged into your account) also available.

In general (I said "in general" no roasting), it would be like Fidelity or Charles Schwab vs Robinhood. A known quantity vs I hope it works (Gamestop)...

Please no rabbit holes about Robinhood/Gamestop...It was just an analogy.

I concur. PayPal is far from cheap on fees, nor on FX rate. Only reason I use it is when I am forced to by using eBay.

Apple is only interested in businesses that leverage their existing infrastructure (iPhone/iPad, iTunes, iTunes, user base) and can charge a premium price. Hard to see how PayPal can charge a premium price with so much competition.

Thank you guys for answering. I really don't know the true workings of so many tech companies. I owned stock in REDHAT Software (before being bought out by IBM). In my beginning computer class in college, we got into BASIC...With a little bit of FORTRAN and COBOLT!!

So I study a little...Buy some Microsoft here...Some Apple there. Try and go for industry leaders who are holding market share (REDHAT...Open source). Also why I bought Paypal.

But I also own some QQQ...Just to make sure up and comers are put in and laggers are dropped.

Instead of buying Tesla and figuring out where it's going...I'll buy Panasonic who makes the batteries for Tesla and make other thing. They can also make electric batteries for other car makers!!

I can never figure out who will be the winners and losers in tech. It's more like who is gaining market share and holding on to it...Buy, then watch carefully!! Was thinking of this true scene from below (IBM vs Microsoft).

Just me...

PS I hear RadioShack is an up and comer...
