Correlations between 70's energy shock and today's market

Does anyone have the data, time and inclination to correlate the dow from the 1970's with current dow to get a handle on possible effects of the current oil spike? I would imagine you would have to scale and compress the chart. I can't remember the exact dates of what happened (I was 6 at the time), but I sure do think that if you put the two charts on top of each other...

Has anyone smarter than me already done this and wouldn't mind sharing the graph?

I dont have the data on hand. But I do know that if u relate the gas price in relative terms of inflation... in 1970's it would be as if they were paying $4-5 galon at the pump.

So in 1970s it was much more of a shock. Also the overall economy was not pumped up with money as this one is.
