There is plenty of blame to go around in the U.S. - You fail to mention the idiotic policies and deliberate hiding of data from Kemp and DeSantis. While completely forgetting that the buck stops at the top for the federal government; as the nation's top executive Donald Trump is completely responsible for the failed national COVID-19 response in the U.S.
The President of the United States does not run the individual states. He can set policy but, at the end of the day, it is the Governors of the states are responsible for their states. De Santis did a helluva job compared with Cuomo. He protected those in nursing homes. Cuomo put sick patients with Corona Virus in nursing homes causing the deaths of tens of thousands of seniors. President Donald Trump gave them all the resources they needed. US army put up the 2,910 bed Javits Center which ended up hardly used. So, few patients with Corona virus while, Cuomo stuffed the sick Corona Virus patients in nursing homes? No excuse for it when he had so many hospital beds, a huge majority of it unused. They closed the Javits Center for the reason, there are no patients left.
Now Cuomo is throwing front line workers under this bus to blame shift.

Cool story bro. If masks are mandatory then people should comply or go elsewhere. Local Menards requires masks, so I wear one when I go there. They have designated lines and signs which I follow. Actually it's very efficient, they should keep it as good business practice regardless of Covid. Local gym I go to does not require masks. Some people wear them, most are not. I don't as I believe wearing a mask while exercising has more risk than not. Its just this morning I went out to grab a chicken pastel and a lanky yank (6'3ish") shorts wearing boomer expat with his mask down around his neck* stood right behind me ignoring the marked spacings.
I said my man, the spacings are there to protect us both. He replied flatly "I'm eatin' now" though I'd not mentioned the mask. I showed him the raised back of my hand with the look and he just left the line and sat at a nearby table like a closed for 5 minutes sign went up, no expression.
I watched him a bit to see if he was genuinely mentally handicapped as I was feeling guilty but no, he pulls out his phone and has a normal chat with someone. This is the second guy I've watched to see if he was mentally affected.
We MUST KEEP THIS (whatever it is) QUARANTINED IN THE USA.

Point is we can conduct business while the virus works it's way through the population. Rise in cases is no surprise due to considerably more testing. Deaths remain flat to down even with most of the population back out and about, and have been for weeks. As of today I see no reason to panic.

She goes shopping, I go to the gym. I doubt the virus can distinguish between the buildings and the risk is essentially the same. Surrounded by people, some wearing masks, some not, all touching everything. If the death rate spike, IN MY AREA, and that is sustained for more than a few days, I will once again be back in my garage doing the workouts. Until then, I will live my life knowing there is no such thing as risk free, and it's idiotic to think there is. We all take prudent precautions every single day, in every decision we make about everything we do. We learn, we adapt, we move forward. I would think a "progressive" would be able to see how that works, and has worked since the beginning of time.
