I agree. We should not be in the business of doling out foreign aid to other countries including, those hostile to the US when we have trillions in deficits. Of course, they crank the printing presses to pay for all of these giveaways.
You think someone is really going to vote against it so in the next election the opponent runs ads that says "Hundreds of thousands of Americans dying, out of work or losing jobs and XXX voted against giving relief to American families".

Exactly. Tuck the Gender Studies for Pakistan money into the desperately needed COVID relief bill to make it unassailable. Its pretty sickening to see $500m for Ukraine and $600.00 for Americans. You have to admire the chutzpah.
So Trump demands $2k COVID relief which exposes the GOP as being the party that cut relief to $600. I don't think Trump minds shining a spot beam onto republicans on the way out.
Trump does not have to formally veto the bill he can do a "pocket veto" which is to simply let it sit on his desk so there is no veto override possible. Mitch and Nancy are going to have to accept $2k relief and removing some of the pork and Nancy seems all for it. Now lets see just how badly the GOP can screw this up.
The GOP deserves to be on the back benches in my view. They didn't support the President properly, failed to replace Obamacare and generally want mass immigration just like the democrats. Fuck them all.

"Wiping out student loans" is just a give-away to the middle class and above. It does little to help those with lower income. The beneficiaries will primarily be white and middle class. This has been well-documented in the Washington Post and other papers.

We actually need more Gender Studies funding in Pakistan. Thanks to Covid relief Bill, American Taxpayers and Interest Payers will be able to right that 'wrong', couple hundred Billion$ for Asia Relief, and some multi-hundred B B Billion$ more for, Sudan, Kennedy Center, uncle Irving and 5000 pages more. So, I do disagree with the Chicago school of economics analysis of student loan forgiveness based on their framing of incomes. We know whites earn more than blacks with similar degrees. If they did the analysis based on gender, they would find men would benefit more than women based on income, too.
But, again, this is about stimulus, not civil rights, even though civil rights groups enthusiastically support the idea. Dollar for dollar, wiping out student debt will add over $100 billion a year to gdp for almost 2 decades. It’s singularly in a category of its own for long term stimulus.
