Let's take a look at the previous information. Your claim was that lockdowns would greatly increase the suicide rate. I stated very clearly that due to government financial support that suicides would only increase after the government assistance stopped and bills became due. Financial stress is one of the leading stressors driving suicide for people over 25 and under 70 according to research --
this is usually coupled with other mental issues.
Despite many pundits claiming in April, May, and June that suicides would rise world-wide during lockdowns this has not happened.
The reality is that the number of suicides has dropped or staying steady in every country during lockdowns. In
Colorado in March and April suicides dropped 40%. In
Ireland the government stated suicides have not changed. In
Japan suicides dropped by 20% during the lockdown. In
India suicides decreased by 13.5% in the Pune state during the lockdown. In
New Zealand suicides dropped during the lockdown. As noted in the NYT in May the actual suicide rate for lockdowns in the U.S. would not be known for many months but their was
no evidence in May that it increased during the lockdowns of March and April in the U.S.
So in summary -- the claim that lockdowns would increase the suicide rate have proven to be complete nonsense. Yet back in May you pushed a nonsensical story from an online Yahoo reporter about a "A-Level student found dead 'was fearful of future because of lockdown" about about a high school student who obviously had underlying mental issues. You used this single example as a claim that suicides were greatly rising due to lockdowns (which has proven to be completely false).
Let's take a look at my response to your news story -

I simply noted that when my Dad came back from World War 2 their were periods of lockdown due to the polio epidemic. No different than lockdowns by city, state, and region today. Nobody was trying to blame the lockdowns for a increased suicide rate. This was because the Great Generation believed that people were personally responsible for their behavior --- and should not be blaming others or "conditions" for what they did.
Let's move forward to today... Every individual needs to be personally responsible for their behavior. Sadly most criminals blame their "poor childhood" or "racism" or many other causes for the crimes they committed -- they never accept personal responsibility for their actions. Of course left-wing pundits push the agenda that the criminals are victims --- and the actual victims are oppressors.
Similarly there is only one person responsible when an individual commits suicide.... the individual themselves. I can sympathize with family and friends for their loss, but they are not responsible. They may believe they could have done more, got better assistance etc. but they should not blame themselves for the tragedy usually associated with mental health issues.
Somehow in your fanciful mind you deem that I need prove my service to give my post credence for mentioning my father in context of previous U.S. lockdown experiences. This is one of the most twisted and absurd interpretations I have seen on ET. Reasonable people can only question your rationality based on your absurd assertions.
