Yowzer the new threads on Coronavirus here are multiplying faster than the virus itself. Unbelievable.

Anyway, if only for myself, I will start a generic Corona thread so that I can at least have one go-to place and remember where I posted something. Not saying I won't visit the other twelve corona threads too.

Okay, I know your first knee-jerk reaction is: I don't want to hear or read any bullshit information from China because they are all a bunch of lying arsewipes. This is quite true and I understand that completely, but the drug itself is actually from Japan so it should be easier to figure out what the research looks like for real.

Just sayin, it might be another avenue to look at along with some others that are ready to go. I dont want to hear about just treatment options that end in "but that will take 18 months to two years." Have to walk and chew gum at the same time.

They have buried a lot of information and bodies but since this kicked off in January I would not doubt that from the Wuhan shutdown and travel restrictions that they indeed have contained the unfettered spread to some extent. But this is March and shit hit the fan in January indicating we may not hit that point until April.

Also since they were first and caught uninformed and we have reacted finally, it still points to us peaking in April around Easter which is when most schools and business are forecasting to be closed. Assuming we continue to act fast and swift, then I would target April 15th as life returning to "normal" while the virus runs its course through the remaining infected.

Given the growth rates in China and Italy I saw we hit 50,000 peak at the most and feel a moderate strain on the health care system.

But I am going out tomorrow and buying gift cards at local restaurants that are open and do a small part to make sure shopping centers don't end up as ghost towns haha

President Donald Trump’s son-in-law and senior White House advisor Jared Kushner previously controlled a health insurance company that just unveiled a new website geared toward directing people to locations where they can be tested for the new COVID-19 coronavirus. The company, Oscar Health Insurance, had held itself out as being founded by Joshua Kushner, Jared’s brother. But state records uncovered by Mother Jones on Tuesday revealed that, when the business was incorporated in 2013, both Jared and Joshua owned Oscar’s parent company, Thrive Partners III GP LLC.

As it turned out, the process described by the White House and misattributed to Google, was “eerily similar” to Oscar’s newly launched online platform, The Verge reported Sunday:

The steps described in the press release bear a marked similarity to the flowchart, both referring to the test subjects as “consumers” rather than “patients.”

Joshua Kushner (brother to Jared) is a major investor in Oscar Health, and the Times reported that Jared was in close communication with Joshua’s father-in-law in the days leading up to the announcement.

Jared Kushner was, indeed, in touch with his brother’s father-in-law, emergency room doctor Kurt Kloss. He sought recommendations on combatting COVID-19 and Kloss came back with 13 recommendations from a Facebook group filled with other emergency room doctors.

“Jared Kushner and Joshua Kushner are deemed the ultimate controlling persons in Oscar’s holding company system.”

Well, of course, if you buy into the idea that seasonality is a factor - which I do- then if that turns out to be a factor it supports the april 15-may 1 time frame as being a period when season becomes less favorable to flu-like viruses.

As a word of caution, we have binary thinkers here who will hear me say that I think that it will come and go like the regular flu and I have not said that. I have said that I believe that it will be a factor and combinations of factors often add up.

I have seen arguments that push against it a bit by people who say that Australia and such countries who are in their summer have cases already so spring/summer conditions will not make it go away. Fine, I did not say it would go away, I said it will create less favorable conditions. Also, many of the cases in Australia and the like are imported and I am talking home grown cases. Even if the season tilts against regular flu, someone can always fly in from another part the world with it but it does not change the fact that conditions are not good for home grown cases at that time of year.

Also, as over discussed, the massive load on hospitals and clinics from the basic flu Types A and B will plummet in the next couple weeks taking that burden off the health care system and freeing it up for corona patients. So that April 15- May 15 period has several moving parts that I am hopeful about. Of course, every article is focused on what exponential explosion - ie. Italy-like- will have done by then so there is the argument that it will be ugly and draconian by then. I see that and the logic that goes with it but I am not there on it yet. Could be good/ could be much uglier about April 15-May 1. It's definitely an inflection period, I think.
