Pfizer COVID-19 Vaccine US Supply Could Rise 40% As FDA Clears Use Of Extra Doses In Vials

What Happened: Labeling confusion had led to hospital pharmacists discarding one in every six doses of the vaccine made jointly by Pfizer and its German partner BioNTech SE BNTX 2.06%, Stat News had reported earlier.

The vaccine vials reportedly hold five doses as per the label but pharmacists found that they could potentially administer six or even seven doses. Without the manufacturer’s approval, these doses had to be thrown away.

FDA said in a statement that “given the public health emergency, FDA is advising that it is acceptable to use every full dose obtainable.” till the time the issue was resolved, according to Reuters.

Wait a minute, I have been informed right here on the forum repeatedly that Germany is the model and their military would be handling everything and there would not be any of that nasty "contracting with the private sector" as Trump and the idiot Americans are doing.

And yes, the Americans - as with the vaccine development- are out there on the front lines distributing vaccines that they brought to market and having great success, while correcting failures as they go along. In the American and pioneer and entrepreneurial spirit.

How the Germans up on Mount Olympus doing? Oh, still planning for a great distribution. Just dont have any vaccine yet and have distributed zip. womp....womp.....womp. Don't bet on the Germans over the Americans just yet. That has not worked out well in history. When Biden comes into office, it is probably a better bet.

Wait -- one state and only one state out of 16 is using DHL in Germany to assist the military with distribution. Stop the pressses. Other states may follow a similar route.

"Deutsche Post DHL’s supply chain division (CXE: DPW) has received a contract from the German state of Lower Saxony to store and transport COVID-19 vaccines and is completing negotiations with other federal states for vaccine logistics. "

Earlier articles I posted clearly stated that Germany was going to seek the assistance of DHL and other companies to assist their military with distribution. This is hardly surprising news.

Germany is waiting for the EU approval process for the vaccine to complete before providing vaccinations to individuals. The expected start date is December 27th. 60 regional mass vaccination centers are already set-up. Germany has millions of vaccine doses being held in central storage and are ready to go. They built their mass vaccination centers country-wide in less than a week.

Germany claims they will have their entire population vaccinated by the end of March.... let's see if the U.S. can beat that despite our "head start".

Why don't we just root for ALL countries to use the best public health practices to deal with a pandemic which are based on science. At the same time we can root for ALL countries to have an effective mass vaccination strategy which will get all of their residents vaccinated as soon as possible.
 
I heard Boris Johnson speak a couple times over the weekend in regard to their epidemic problems.

Sounded like, yes the new variant might be a factor, but he was using it a bit too much and a bit too conveniently to explain away the Brit's loss of control of the sitution - because well, if you are the leader of a country and your covid is running rampant, you take shiite. Best to blame it on "the new variant."

We don't actually know whether it spreads faster or not. It might be replacing some other variants, just as the original wuhan variant has been replaced many times over.

You can expect the Canadians to be repeating the mantra about the new variant being the cause of everything before long. The like to get their scripts from the Brits and the French. I don't doubt that the new strain will spread bigtime- the current one is too.

Europeans and Canada have enacted travel ban for incoming Brits to prevent spread of new strain of virus.

Meanwhile, leading dems are calling for Americans to enact similar ban if not already.

But........would this not be considered to be racist and xenophobic? I mean banning people from a country where the virus or straing originates or is prevalent?
