Cornix's TA Performance

Quote from cornix:

Nice? Certainly not. Evil? Neither. Market is neutral, somewhat like an ocean or other element (in the philosophical meaning). It cares less about you or me. It's our business to either learn to use it or perish if we are too naive about it.

That's a funny viewpoint. On the most basic level, trading is a negative sum game-----the market is no more neutral than a casino. Your type of thinking is both naive and extremely dangerous to noobs.

Not much more negative sum than life in general, Surf. :)

Think of a leopard... spending valuable calories every second to sustain life. And if he runs out of energy before pounces an antelope... it's a bit worse than a trader running out of account even, ha.

Huh? life is far from a negative sum game-- for example, the more you exercise the better and stronger you get-- that's not negative sum by any stretch and thats just one small example of dozens.
on the other hand, the faulty philosophy fits well

From the day one of your life you start burning calories and if don't get more regularly than you need (more because the process of digesting also takes energy not even speaking of adults who have to get the food first) you die.

Everything has it's cost in life, I see no problem here. :)

Wait .... what ? So you think betting the house (or 90% of it, referring to your YM short call) is the proper way of doing things and not extremely dangerous to noobs ? OMG:eek:

Yes, when you are convinced 100%, going all in is how to play it. But, by the same token, you need to be prepared for the consequences of a black swan--- a positive one in my case, but that's so unlikely I dismissed the possibility.

You can't compare an involuntary system to a voluntary one that's designed to enrich itself at your expense. Proper thinking is the first step to understanding.

he doesnt. He would've been stopped out of this short at 90% of initial margin if this was anything but fiction. cornix produces a blotter but surfer can't? he can't because the trade is false.

My view is all the world voluntarily tries to enrich itself at the expense of the others including me. Me doing the same. :)

Still don't see a problem here. Yes, trading costs you money, but if your edge overcomes that, why not? Any business has expenses.
