Cornix's TA Performance

A lot of people on these boards employ proprietary TA tactics, combined with money mgmt, to make sense of the markets. Some people are unwilling to accept this. Somehow it's easier to bash them than to do their own homework.

Sorry, just realized this is Corn's journal. Sorry Corn!

As for TA its just a tool to help one make sense of it all

Once you see a psuedo random string of numbers representing a years movement on 5 minute bars show the exact same support/resistance and technical patterns that you rely upon---

You will understand what I am talking about. I have been in your position and have seen what you see-- so i understand.

Finally, you will "get the joke"

No. I am speaking of levels, which are different for different markets. They exist and make a lot of sense in stocks index futures for example, but not in currencies etc.

Have nothing to do with patterns, which also exist in randomly generated charts.

Quote from marketsurfer:

It feels good to think about the market in nice sentiments. Nothing wrong with that when describing what happened. However, the truth is, it feels good to nail the trend after 6 plus tries and ride it to profits superseding each of the previous losses and commissions. Cutting losers and letting winners run is how you win--- this has nothing to do with TA entries, particularly those that lose 6 plus times in a row. It's just randomness working for you and you playing the game untill luck provides profits.

No doubt it's great skill to cut losers and let winners run, but this nothing to do with TA based entries.

Cutting losses and letting winners run is very simple and mechanical. If trading is so easy, how comes most people including you can't do it?

No problem with some broader TA talks. :)

I think the Russian mafia got him.

He likely realized the futility of TA price action as a viable stand alone trading method.

Regardless, I hope he is ok. He is a very smart guy and elite doesn't need to lose anymore brain power.

You had mentioned earlier that if it was possible to trade recurring patterns on price charts that the very nature of the market would naturally remove that imbalance, so to speak. Is this correct?

Please change the wording, if needed, to better reflect your position.

What market entity would be responsible for removing that imbalance? Hedge funds, quants, institutions, some, all or others?

I am trying to understand how it all works, if you are saying that anything that is so obvious on a chart would quickly be arbed out of existence. I want to understand who would do that,

Thanks for your time.

Yes, that's correct.

While patterns may repeat, the markets ever changing cycles makes certain that the repetitive nature is not such as to be regular enough to consistently repeat. There are super computers constantly scanning every market nuance and as soon as an aberration is spotted, big money exploits it untill the market quickly morphs to protect itself. This is why the market is so rich and those who try to beat it usually lose.

That's also why I believe there may be value to the subjective art of TA. Your brain may be able to morph with the market-- fixed objective systems can't change -- that's why they are guaranteed to lose overtime. If anyone tells you they have used the same objective system profitably for years, they are lying to you.
Good luck and I hope this makes sense. Read practical speculation by niederhoffer, how markets really work by Gallacher and evidenced based TA--- books by real traders who have made millions--- don't listen to the no name aliases with tales of glory
