Cornel West, Progressive Scholar, Announces Third-Party Bid for President

Not once, not in a single public appearance I've seen West do, a hell of a lot of Real Time with Maher mostly has he shown chops as a heavy hitter. Mostly people are just nice to him and hold back because of his bagpuss persona. That's what my daughter quipped when he was slapped lightly back on one show "He is like a black bagpuss, people just don't have the heart to kick him".

If there is any talk you know of where he faced down real heat, not an academic love-fest, Christopher Hitchslapping the bitches I'd love to see it as it could make me feel even a little bit convinced. I don't have a vote but I do prepare my kid who does.

Apart from my view that West is not ready for prime time politics, I think you are too focused on what you believe to be an unlikely ideal, rather than the real world of hard choices in a give-and-take environment of imperfect options.

I'm glad you changed that from an Einstein quote as it is generally accepted as an endlessly misattributed quote :) I remember debating it in university.

The quote does not take into account the role of chance. Sometimes, even if we do something different, we may still get the same result. This is because chance plays a role in many outcomes.

Or the role of learning? As we learn from our mistakes we can change our behavior and start getting different results.

The quote is too simplistic, might apply narrowly but still imperfectly to a simple measurement experiment, not the more complex world. There are many factors that can contribute to a particular outcome and it is often impossible to isolate one factor and say that it is the sole or even a reliable cluster of factors relating to the outcome.

With moderate Dems we will eventually get it anyway.Moderate Dems just delay the inevitable.Just rip the band-aid off and get on with it until Dems lose enough elections that they decide to change imo.

Its not really about West.While we like having a big name on the ticket 2024 is going to be a big Green Party year like 2000/2016 no matter who the nominee is.2024 is about letting the Dem party know Joe Biden type presidencies is unacceptable to progs,blacks,hispanics and climate voters.
